The hunt for the new roommate is on. I find this part stressful. I really, really like the girl I've been living with this summer, but she's only here until August.

To get such a job you need to buff up your portfolio a little but doing that isn't as difficult as it may seem.Quoting Isaac (view post)
Work on shooting and finishing some shorts. The hardest thing with anything in life but especially art is conquering one's own fear. Write a short script and don't judge it while you're writing it so that you're able to complete it. A good way to start so that you don't bog yourself down is write down 50 premises for possible films, just bare bones ideas and again don't judge how good they are while doing that. Then go back and take pieces from all your brief ideas and then move on to the next stage of fleshing out the basic narrative/emotional chords/story beats/characters. After that you can start writing dialogue etc.
Worry about budget/number of characters/feasibility of shooting a little during the writing but don't let it dampen your creative output too much. When the script is completed if you feel it's good enough you may want to rent a camera and/or put together a budget to see what you'll need to complete it. I would suggest working on 6-10 minute shorts as they give you time to explore some issues but they're also finite and can hold an audience's interest successfully in that format.
A few shorts later and you'll be ready to start work on some features.

Film posters done in a traditional Ottoman style. Beautiful and interesting. I really like the one for The Shining.

Oh my. Not only did my request for press passes for Clutch come through, but they include meet and greet with the band. Guess I'll have something to be anxious about after my surgery. I'm not interview guy.

there's a fairly substantial differance between asking a random girl out and meeting and greeting a member of your all-time favorite band.
Random: it is surely an impossibility (although I've never heard it mentioned before) that I'm the first to notice that the clerk in Bennys World Of Liquor in From Dusk Till Dawn is looking at a catalog of brides dresses...
Today is Friday the 13th, and I have to work. If some drunk guy comes in wearing a hockey mask (highly unlikely, but still) I will high five him. If he starts killing people first, I will run like hell. Wish I could just sit around my house and view the first 8 films (which I own) while wasted instead.

Hey, neat. This is page 1138 of the thread.
All hail George Lucas, or something.
Happy Friday the 13th everyone.

Sarah and I arrived in Oklahoma on Thursday. The area here is nice and about the same as it was shopping-wise just outside of the main Chicagoland area, but sweet mercy, it's continually been in the high 90s each day, with the car temperature frequently registering over 100 degrees.
It's gonna take some time to get used to this...
The Boat People - 9
The Power of the Dog - 7.5
The King of Pigs - 7
A friend of mine from high school went to Comic Con and made out with Nathan Fillion. People were calling BS and so she didn't just produce pictures, she produced video. It's pretty fun.
I've been looking at all the cosplay photos from the event that Rotten Tomatoes has on their main page, but this story here is the tip of the iceberg. There has to be a Match-Cut reunion next year.Quoting Thirdmango (view post)

I shared an elevator with Jason Biggs.
That's the only real Comic Con encounter I had this year.
Sure why not?

Gall bladder has been successfully removed. I'm so relieved I could cry. Going under is just terrifying to me.
Need a new job if I were to go to ComicCon. For my maintenance position, it's at a very busy time of the year.
