I actually like this better. I'm probably in the minority, but linear > non-linear when it comes to games.
Oh me too for sure, but even then I gotta say that I do prefer the bustling city in GTA over the barren plains of RDR. So much more crazy stuff happening in GTA when you wanna just mess with the cops for instance. Kept my attention more than Rockstar's western game.

Enter RDR:Undead Nightmare. Can't tell you how much time I've spent in that game just roaming around, fucking with the zombies. Yee-haw!

So finally playing "Amnesia: The Dark Descent". Despite the glitchy framerate (due to my apparently slow computer) it's pretty terrifying I must admit.

Feels like this game was designed by Cthulhu.

I ordered Enslaved. I think I will really enjoy this game.
It's really good, despite the over abundance of mediocre combat.

LA Noire NOT being sandbox definitely detracts from its appeal for me. I'd love nothing more than to explore the city, hit up a smokey jazz club and see Billy Holiday on stage or something.
And then kill every last one of them and loot their bodies?

Soooo ... what's everybody's take on BULLETSTORM!! Looks like it'll fill my gore quota.

I'd find a video, but video game sites are blocked at work.

Then tie them to the bumper, put a brick on the accelerator pedal, and send it careening into a busy intersection!

I thought the demo was fun. I hope there's a lot of variety to the levels and weapons, though, or else it'd get old pretty fast.

I was basically doing the same combo (lasso, kick, headshot) over and over.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I liked that about GTAIV. If you go to a certain club at a certain time of night you can watch a whole stand up routine of Katt Williams

Started playing Maijin and the Forsaken Kingdom tonight - now this is my kind of game! Tons of exploration, puzzles, a mysterious environment, and really great music. The budding relationship between the two characters is actually charming, and giving Maijin commands works flawlessly; it's really fun to team up with him to attack the enemies. Really great game that evokes a strong Miayazaki flavor with it mythical setting and environmentally-themed narrative. Highly recommended. Looking forward to Knight's Contract from the same developers.

I'm looking forward to playing Alan Wake sometime this year.

"Stacking" looks and sounds so great. I'm looking forward to playing that one.

And just a few weeks 'til "Beyond Good & Evil HD", which I'm VERY excited for. It will be a day-1 purchase for me, particularly if this potential new job comes through.

I also have a few games from the last year and a bit that I want to get caught up on, namely "Borderlands", "Red Dead Redemption", and "Mass Effect 2" (which I will play right after I finish the first one, which is proving to be a MUCH more satisfying and robust experience this second time around).

It's weird how almost every review of Majin talks about the terrible dialog and voice acting. I'm usually quite sensitive to these things, but I don't think it's bad at all. Yes, it is very simple, but it's also quite charming. It has a kind of storybook quality to it, and the voice acting is totally not terrible. Given the fact that this is not a dialog-based game, it's actually OK, especially when compared to something like Heavy Rain.

So... I just signed up for Gamefly after watching videos from this.

Question about Gamefly... when it says Availability "Low" ... will they skip to the next available like Netflix? Or should I just rearrange my queue so the next title that is "Available Now" is at position number one?

This is new territory for me. Thanks for answers in advance.

I really can't get excited about LA Noire. Looks like another video game trying to prove its worth by comparing itself to another medium - film. With something like that, I'd rather just watch a good noir film, because at the end of the day I'd bet just about anything that even the most mediocre noir movie will have a better story, be better written, and have better acting.

Games need to evaluate and celebrate themselves as their own thing, and stop defining their success by how closely they can emulate cinema and novels.

And yes, I know I'll be in the minority on this one. Still though, like Heavy Rain, LA Noire looks like a game I'd have fun while watching someone else play.

I'm with Meg on PC gaming. I sealed off that money pit in about '98.

They'll just skip to the next. They do that sometimes even if it says high availability. I would regularly get games sent to me that were 15 spots down my queue.

It's weird. I'm just the opposite. I've owned just about every "major" console since the SNES, but they never get as much use as my PC.

I like having TV / movies on in the background when I play (especially sports), so having the console taking up the TV made it appeal less to me.

That, and as much as I love shooters, I am a mouse/keyboard guy and have never felt comfortable playing them with a console controller.

    This.

PC has opened the door to so many different dimensions of gaming that you just can't get on console. Everything plays on PC perfectly where the opposite cannot be said about console. I could do the PC vs Console argument all day.

If someone was coming into the gaming market today, because of exclusives and how they are published today, I would recommend someone buying a PC first, and a PS3 second. Ignore the other two consoles. You'll get the best possible experience out of those two.
