Well, despite my computer exceeding all the minimum system requirements, "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" does not work for me. $20 down the drain. See, this is the kind of crap that made me give up on PC games years ago. At least if I buy a 360 game it's guaranteed to work in my 360.

Wonder if it's Apple compatible.
Don't care at this point.
Pretty much never bothering with PC games again. I'm tired of throwing my money down the toilet.

Tried it out on the free demo (which also lists the same requirements). Since I have a laptop and the trackpad, it probably isn't the best of options, but I think I'd like it if I can find a mouse somewhere. Great atmosphere and sound here.

My favorite part is when it starts loading, then the screen goes black, and I get sent back to Windows Explorer with an error message that I can't find anything about on Google.
Great game.

OK I won't bother. Just too easy.

It LOOKS amazing. But I got bored of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption about half-way through. Hopefully this one is beyond just presentation.
I always wanted a 1940's Batman sandbox game kinda like this where most of the emphasis was put on your detective skills.
Sure why not?

Finally got "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" uh...kinda working.
Turns out my computer IS pretty out of date, but at the same time, it still does exceed the minimum requirements.
I had to download 9 different sets of drivers as well as a "fix" that some guy at Frictional Games sent me a link to.
Now the game runs, albeit not very smoothly.
At least it wasn't a complete waste.
But again, this is exactly why I lost all interest in PC gaming in the first place. Constant upgrading to play new games is a pain in the ass and such a money pit.
Plus, in my experience, even if your computer has everything required to play the game, there's absolutely no guarantee it's actually going to work.
I'll stick with my 360, thank you very much.

LA Noire isn't a sandbox game. It has an open world LA, but the story is pretty linear and there are clear objectives.Quoting Watashi (view post)
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
I think that RDR succeeded, thanks to its presentation, to immerse players into simply living out the life of a cowboy, riding the hills, watching the sunsets. LA Noire looks to create similar vibes thanks to its setting. Sure, most of the missions in RDR were kinda straightforward, with little in the way of dynamic mission structure or emergent on-the-spot problem solving. So I don't disagree with ya, don't feel that RDR is the best thing since sliced bread, but RDR did feel a bit Malickian at times as I got swept up in the majestic beauty of its landscapes. Trouble is, Malick movies don't last 14 hours.Quoting Watashi (view post)

It looks like a blend between Heavy Rain and GTA. Which would have made Heavy Rain... not so shitty.Quoting number8 (view post)
In GTAIV and RD's defense, your description above still applies to them (they both have a main story).Quoting number8 (view post)
Yeah, but you can do a lot of different things in those games depending on your mood in between following the main story. Rockstar has said that LA Noire is not sandbox, so all your actions are probably limited to just solving cases. I'm guessing it's more similar to Arkham Asylum's open world than RDR's.
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
LA Noire NOT being sandbox definitely detracts from its appeal for me. I'd love nothing more than to explore the city, hit up a smokey jazz club and see Billy Holiday on stage or something.

Agreed. I'm still of the opinion that GTA, and even RDR's missions are so boring because there's so much of a focus on just roaming around and doing stuff. Especially GTA.Quoting Watashi (view post)
Definitely agree with this.Quoting Watashi (view post)
But seriously how cool would it be if we had a cross between Arkham Asylum and LA Noire where it was 1940's Batman hunting down the Joker and other villains searching for clues while trying to remain hidden and keeping your identity safe.

I ordered Enslaved. I think I will really enjoy this game.
I'm almost at the end of Darksiders. Finally got done with the Portal stuff and now moving on to the final boss.
Then I move onto Valkryie Chronicles.
