So, I'm about 3 hours into the game, and one thing confuses me: steel swords work against humans and non-humans (animals, I guess?) and silver swords work against monsters. He has two swords on his back. One is steel, and one is silver, I gather? If so, which is which, anyone know? The Internet is not being much help on the matter.

    Oh, and...

Also getting sick of listening to this guy drone on to himself. Doesn't help I don't like the protagonist at all. And who names their horse Roach?
Geralt's a stoner, of course. Also explains the droning to himself.

Left is steel, right is silver. Let him auto draw the right sword if you're not sure.

    That was Arkham City.

Arkham Origins is a prequel to how Batman became Batman so it's supposed to be Gotham.

IMO, City and Origins are about the same size.
    Doh! My bad.

Started playing Arkham Origins. Really good example of why bigger isn't always better in games. They've made this massive city but it feels completely empty, populated only by cloned groups of thugs, which makes grapple hooking from one location to another pretty tedious. Since this one isn't set in a prison, where are all the civilians?
Giving up on this one. Boring and clunky. Too much time searching the horizon to find spots to hook the grapple hook. First one's the best.

Never ended up finishing The Last of Us last year because life stuff got in the way, so might start that again.

I actually quite like Origins. Played all of them twice and I still think its story is the most compelling and compellingly told of the bunch. The gameplay mechanics are not as fluid, but I honestly don't know what you mean when you speak of searching the horizon for grapple points. That city has so many ledges!

I did tire of traversing that damn bridge though.

    Started playin Far Cry 4.

I'm getting really tired of Troy Baker.

Dude makes Nolan North look like an underused character actor.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

I feel there's a lot of times where, unlike in Assassin's Creed or something, I feel I should be able to get places where I can't so I have to just click R1 until I find a ledge.

Don't really care too much about the story. I spend a lot of the time in games like these listening to podcasts.

There's more efficient ways to get through a decent Batman narrative anyway. Started reading Gotham Central recently.

Haha. Nice. Yeah, I have a soft spot for Bats stories, but feel too frequently let down by them (comics included). So any time there is any semblance of something new or creative, I tend to latch pretty tightly to it. And I frequently turn down the gameplay music and listen to Prince during the Arkham games. It's recommended.

Also, did you not think that Joker looked like Dennis from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia? Very distracting.

    Worth it?

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TY9...92N4MRDFAP7Z7Q

    $350 for XBO Halo edition.

Thought I might jump into this gen after skipping the last. I'm primarily interested in RPGs, some shooters, small indie stuff. Not wild about quasi-MMO online play unless it involves games named "Battlefront" or I'm screaming "FOR THE HORDE" at my screen.

    Any advice appreciated.

Wish I could help you. That's the only console I don't own. Probably will never get one unless I find one for under $200.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Out of what you own, what would you recommend?

I was originally leaning toward PS4 because it seems like the zeitgeist is behind Sony for this generation. But digging around on the web, I read some articles that MSFT cleaned up many of the XBO's release issues (& I enjoyed the hell out of the original XBOX).

My recommendation would be to take a look at the ps4 and Xbox exclusives. Does either have any that you really want to play? Go with that console.

Microsoft has turned around the XBO quite a bit- It's actually quite impressive where they've come from at E3 two years ago to today. I don't have a Wii-U either I should say, just a PS4 as far this gen goes. So I may not be the best person to talk to. I mean, if you're a Halo fan, or a Gears of War fan, get the Xbox (there's a Gears of War remaster that's going to be coming to Xbox). If you're a fan of anything else, get the PS4.

Nothing interests me on the XBO. Not one game and all the games that do interest me, that are cross platform perform much better on PS4. But even after THAT being said, most of the cross platform games I buy are typically on PC where it runs BEST. Unless it's a third person game like Assassin's Creed or Batman- those I get on console.

Whenever I decide to join this gen of consoles, I'll probably get Xbox One just so I can plug my PS3 into its HDMI pass-through port. I think that would amuse me very much.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Bloodborne alone has ensured that if I end up getting a next gen console it will be a PS4.
