Video Games...Discuss Them

I started replaying through the Pikmin series in anticipation of 3. The first two are some of my favorite games yet I don't think I ever actually completed them. I'm about halfway through the first one now and damn that constant timer looming over your head is terrifying.

Finished it this morning! Such a fun game. The timer is not really as big an issue as I had thought if you're playing smart. I ended up getting all the pieces and still had 5 days left.

One of my gaming blindspots is early Metroid games. The only Metroid game I've even played is Metroid Prime 1 which I loved. So I've now spent about 3 hours on Super Metroid (considered by quite a few people to be one of the greatest games ever) and I do not care for it at all. I don't think I'm gonna play it any longer especially when I have other games waiting to play.

I like it.

I think the device itself - the tech - is amazing.

However, it needs more, better Vita games. The best things I've played on it have been PSP and PS2 ports.

Also, the memory cards are way too fucking expensive, and this is a huge issue that greatly impacts my overall feelings of the device. Sony needs to stop the proprietary media bullshit. I can get a 32gb flash card for $8, or a 32gb Sony Vita memory stick for $100. IMO, that's close to criminal.

Never. I should, though, because in bed is where I play the Vita the most. Before I got my iPad, I was also using it to stream Netflix. The screen looks amazing.

Yeh this is horrible news. OR was getting boat loads of support from Valve. It will be the future of gaming innovation.

I just got my copy of Mass Effect Trilogy in the mail today. One of my favorite series and I can't wait to play through from the beginning. It was on sale from gohastings for $19.99 new. I would have mentioned it here but you guys can't afford new games and they didn't have any used at that price.

Has anyone been watching Anita Sarkeesian's video essays on feminist tropes in video games? I remember when her Kickstarter got started and got a lot of shit thrown towards her by misogynist male gamers. She's been sent death threats all the time.

Some games just ooze fun out of every pore. I think Infamous is just such a game. What a blast. Possibly the best superhero game after the Batman ones.

I think I might give up on "Dragon's Dogma". The quests are just so boring. I've spent the last hour on a side mission where I'd running back and forth between a father, wife and son (all located in different parts of the city) trying to convince them to sell their house.

I'm disappointed, particularly because the game apparently has an amazing ending.

Play Infamous. Every side quest is a rampaging delight.

I wish I liked Infamous more then I did. I had fun for the first couple hours but then it became a slog of the same repetitive gameplay and missions and I stopped after about hour 6-7. I have the same problem with most open world games.
