It's kind of like why South Park is on Netflix and Hulu when they're already on SouthParkStudios.com.

I'm not defending Origin. I'm just saying from a business perspective why would EA do that. BF3 is a high profile game the people who want to play that game are going to play no matter what service its available on. Steam is a competing platform with Origin so I can see why EA doesn't want their future games on it.

Yeh. My guess is they want an even bigger share of the cut than the slice that steam takes. There is also some discrepancy on how steam handles DLC updates. No doubt this game will retail for $60 on PC, $10 more than standard PC games, and it's all about getting a bigger piece of the pie.Quoting EyesWideOpen (view post)
Fucking hate $60 PC games.
I hope you vote with your dollar, and don't buy them.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
I see a lot of gamers get all ragey about stuff like price, digital distribution (Steam vs. Origin), evil EA and Activision, and then they go right out and give the companies their money.
It doesn't make any sense to me.

I heard a ton of complaints about how the Catwoman DLC and pre-order bonuses where handled with the new Batman game, and I guarantee that everyone who complained went out and bought the game the first week it came out, and it'll be one of the best selling games of the month.
Gamers need to learn how to vote with their dollars.
I remember how there was some huge CoD boycott on Steam a couple of years ago, and then when the game came out Kotaku or someone ran an article showing how a ton of people who signed some boycott petition were playing the game a couple of days after it was released.
I refuse to.Quoting D_Davis (view post)
Good.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
I fully support the Catwoman dlc stuff and they announced before hand that the preorder stuff was gonna be for sale in a bundle later on so that's a non issue in my opinion.Quoting D_Davis (view post)

Buyers of the game weren't harmed in any way with the Catwoman DLC. It came with the game. THe buyers of the used game will suffer. So I really don't see your criticism there.Quoting D_Davis (view post)
In hindsight, after playing the game, the way they handled the Catwoman stuff was actually pretty smart. Rewarding early buyers without punishing used game buyers.
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
I don't think the DLC is the issue at all. The issue is when people complain about something but then still support it with their money.
You can't do both.
There was a TON of bitching on most of the video game podcasts and on VG-related forums about the DLC/pre-order stuff for Batman. And I know that most of those people still went out and bought the game. If you complain about something, then you should do something that might help change what you are complaining about.
Personally, I think the idea of DLC is awesome, and I don't mind paying for it.
On the other hand, I dislike Activision's business methods, and I will only buy their games used so they don't get any of my money.
Wait, sure you can. You're allowed to be irritated by an aspect of a product but not have that irritation outweigh your interest in the product in general.Quoting D_Davis (view post)
Then the irritation has no merit.Quoting Winston* (view post)
People have to learn to take a stand.
Even though this may, in the grand scheme things, be a petty problem, it's part of the reason why our country is in the shape it is in now. People complain and are tired of corporations taking advantage of them, and yet they continue to buy and consume like mindless zombies.
People bitch about Nike using sweat shops, and then continue to buy Nike shoes. Nothing will change doing this.
Personally, I can't do that. I think it is important to be a thinking consumer, and if I have a problem with a corporation or business, I will not buy their product no matter how much I want it.
Unfortunately, money is the only thing that talks.
I do not think that Batman extra content is remotely equatable to Nike sweatshops. Personal annoyance and human rights issues are entirely different discussions.
The extra content is not the issue.Quoting Winston* (view post)
The issue is people complaining and still financially supporting.
It is the issue because it is a minor complaint, which people are entitled to. Things aren't black and white. By your logic if a soft drink I like comes out with new packaging that I think is stupid, I should boycott that company for life.Quoting D_Davis (view post)
I originally read this as "The Human Centipede II" and I now think it should be its new title. It just fits brilliantly in its disgusting double entendre.
Same here!Quoting Glass Co. (view post)

If that is important to you you should vote with your dollars until things change.Quoting Winston* (view post)
I always try to vote with my money. It really is the only voice I have in a capitalist society.
I believe why Winston is saying is that it's not that important to people. They just like to bitch about minor annoyances because they can.
