That is really scary, but it does sound like he's doing okay. I wouldn't beat yourself up about dropping everything and flying home, but I can understand the impulse. If you're going to be a mess until you've seen him (and you can afford it), go ahead. Otherwise, just stay in close touch during his convalescence.
    ...and the milk's in me.

My dad just had a heart attack. They put in a stent. He's three thousand miles away. My mom told me I don't have to come, that he's fine now. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I want to visit, but my sister isn't visiting, and she lives much, much closer to him. I can't play cards tomorrow. How can I focus on learning spades? My mom says that he's doped up and flirting with the nurses. I talked to him for a few seconds. He said they had to shave his groin, but hell, it's cheaper than a bikini wax. Sounds stronger than ever. What a stupid fucking world. I love my dad.
I'm sorry you have to go through this. Hopefully your dad makes a complete recovery and is stronger going forward. My dad had angioplasty and a stent put in a couple months ago. They found the blockage before a heart attack, but one was imminent, and he was taking nitro to stave it off before the operation. Today he's stronger than ever, works in the yard for hours at a time, and is eating healthier to boot. He's lost over 20 pounds since the operation.

Anyway, if your dad's spirits are up and he's doing well right now, that's a very positive sign, and the doctors will tell him exactly what condition his heart is in and what he can do to avoid this happening again.

If you want to talk, let me know. I'm not the most well-versed guy on the subject, but recent experience has given me some perspective on the operation. I know how stressful this situation can be. It had me losing sleep. I'll be hoping for the best for you.

man, that must be scary, being that far from home.

and not to downplay the situation, but a friend of mine's dad had a minor heart attack last summer and had a stent put in. they told him to watch his diet and exercise regularly and he's perfectly fine now. my grandpa just had a massive heart attack a few months ago and from my extremely uninformed layperson's position it seems like if they can put a stent in it means the heart tissue didn't die, which is where a lot of long term problems (like my grandpa's) come from.

point being, your mom is probably right that you don't need to rush home, but i'm sure that doesn't make the situation any less terrifying.

I don't really know how your situation is, but if you want to see him and you can do it, why would you let anyone convince you otherwise?

I don't know, man. My first instinct right now is to get defensive about a response like this, so maybe I'll stay offline for a while.

I'm not finding anything specific online, but I checked my debit account rules & regs and found this:
That's so funny, when I was just talking about my relationship with the bank.
Yeah I think it may not affect me because i have had a long term account and I don't have a special account. They may have protection for people who don't use their bank for much. Unfortunately you guys have scared me enough and I've gotta go into the bank now sometime this week.

That last play was like titty fucking Scarlet Johansson upon the deck of James Cameron's TITANIC. It was indecently majestic!

Do you two have the posts of one poster banned from their accounts? One particular poster who apparently wrote 1/4th of the posts?

I'm not going to put this on the (more public) Facebook, but thanks to you guys are are condoling me on the death of my step-grandmother. Honestly, I'm okay. She was 90 years old and has been extremely ill and suffering for several months, and at this point it's a relief that she's not suffering anymore.

Really, I'm going to the funeral to be there for my step-dad (with whom I am extremely close) and to see my cousins and extended family.
    ...and the milk's in me.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I'm helping a mentally ill applicant fill out paperwork for our program, and she asks for my name and extension. I go to write them on her paper.

ME: ...crap, I spelled my name wrong.

    She looks at me sympathetically.

M.I.A.: It's okay, they make medications for that now.

Not sure what this could be. It's working fine on my end, and the only thing posted on the last page, aside from regular text posts, is the YouTube video posted by yourself.

The thread itself has had enough of Duke's B.S. and it kicks him out.

    It's the only logical explanation.
