Fair Enough... in other news, Dragon Age 2 was announced

I really want to get caught up and play the first one.

Jeez, from last November/December to this November/December, it's some of the most game-release-packed 12 months I have ever seen. It's unbelievable.

Duke, I bet your wallet's going to be running really low come Christmas time
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

2010 will go down in history as the best year for video games ever. Sure in the past we've been teased with good fall/holiday season releases, but most of those releases were duds... we have true AAA titles this year. Let me give you a run down.

Alan Wake (aside from the poor poor sales of this game, it was a great play and should be recognized)
Alpha Protocol (another title suffering from poor sales but it's BIOWARE!)
    Aliens vs Predator
    Battlefield: Bad Company 2
    Bayonetta
    Bioshock 2
    Dante's Inferno
    Darksiders
    Final Fantasy XIII
    God of War III
    Heavy Rain
    Just Cause 2
    M.A.G.
    Mass Effect 2
    Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
    Metro 2033
    ModNation Racers
    Red Dead Redemption
    S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
    Splinter Cell: Conviction

I simply cannot afford to buy video games left and right anymore. I just bought a house and I'm attending grad school this fall. So instead, I will be playing my backlog for a few months.

    This year, we still have to look forward to;

    Starcraft 2
    Grand Turismo 5
    Mafia 2
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
    Brink
    Civilization V
    Dead Rising 2
    F.E.A.R. 3
    Medal of Honor
    Fallout: New Vegas
    Nuclear Dawn
    Homefront
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 (also might be 2011)
    Call of Duty: Black Ops
    Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
    Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
    Crysis 2
    LBP2
    Final Fantasy XIV

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

You can list games all you want, but I don't think there's a person in the world that actually liked the new AvP game. Awful stuff.

It had flaws yes and it's definitely the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality, but I know quite a few people who enjoyed it and still play the multiplayer AND it's still selling.

I really like Heavy Rain's gameplay. I just think it's a really dumb move to make a game that focuses so heavily on cinematic conventions, and then have such shitty acting and writing.

Maybe someone can make that type of game with quality voice actors and a script by the Coen Brothers or something.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

They also need to make the controlling actions more interesting. I don't want to walk around a room an infinite number of times opening drawers and looking at papers. I love the idea of a choose your own adventure type game, and that decisions can affect the outcome of the story, but the game needed more action, more choices that had consequences, and much less menial activities to prolong game play. And like you said, it needed a much better story and voice acting.

I didn't have so much of a problem with that. I kinda like it, actually. I think it's cool to keep people on the toes and basically make every movement controllable. I wouldn't find it as engaging if you're just watching cut scenes during the mundane parts and waiting for a suitable "action" moment.

I'm not saying there can't be any moments like that, but Heavy Rain had far too many, and the game felt really long and repetitive because of it. It needed to scale that stuff down, or do a better job breaking it up.

It's a shame that more people aren't playing ModNation Racers, cuz that game is FUN. Plus, it has a bevvy of great ideas that I'm sure will become Kart Racing conventions.
Losing is like fertilizer: it stinks for a while, then you get used to it. (Tony, Hibbing)

Getting it for my son for his birthday on the 23rd. I'm sure I'll be playing it after that.

I actually found it to be, well, just an unenjoyable game.

It goes past being ridiculously hard, into being just cheap. It feels like the game cheats to win.

    Me no likey.

    It looks fantastic, though.

Haven't played Heavy Rain, but I liked Winston's critique in that it was more complicated to use an inhaler on the game then it was in real life.

I'm interested in that upcoming game Enslaved directed by Andy Serkis and scripted by Alex Garland.

Anyone else here have "Megaman 9" and/or "Megaman 10" for 360?

I used to rock the hell out of the "Megaman" games when I was a kid...but damn, I can't even beat a single level in these.

I seem to recall Sycophant has.

I'm in the same boat with the old Megaman games .

Yeah, I've got both 9 and 10 for my Wii. If you keep at them, I'm sure you'll do better, especially if you were ever any good at Mega Man 1-3 for the NES.

On Mega Man 9, you gotta start with Galaxy Man. Both he and his level are pretty easy.

9 is a great game. 10's pretty good, too.

Yeah, the consensus seems to be that 9 is better than 10, though 10 is still no slouch.

Thanks for the tip re: Galaxy Man!

I LOVED the megaman series. Megaman 2 is most definitely my fave game of the NES generation. So yeah, I totally bought MM9. I managed to beat one level before I grew tired of the insane difficulty of the game. Sigh.

It does doesn't it? Very very slick update. Perhaps I shall retry on medium.

I just got Burnout 3: Takedown in the mail from goozex, and holy crap, I forgot how amazing this game was. Like top 10 ever status.
