You gotta give to G4 for hiring hot chicks, though.
    Why?

Curious about that, as well. Television network hiring attractive ladies is a pretty common occurrence.

I don't think there's a gaming publication in existence that doesn't have some hot girl fronting them.

Except for GiantBomb. Because they're better than that shit. And Jeff Gerstmann's hot enough anyways.

Yeah, are you just describing their marketing a savvy?

Because pointedly featuring HOT CHICKS!!! on a geek-focused (read: their viewers are stereotyped as 34-year-old male virgins with the sexual maturity of 11-year-old boys) network on G4 can only be applauded on that level.

34-year olds are the target audience? Hmm...... Don't know about that.

Nah, he's right. They're only mildly appealing to the eyes, and we're dumb schlubs for looking at them. Especially me for mentioning it.

Bottom line - "Mass Effect" rocks.
I'm impressed so far. I've arrived at the citadel. Talk about a bustling, massive area! The story has me intrigued and I'm getting uge Star Trek vibes from this which is cool. I've hacked a computer and downloaded a file that talks about some kind of disturbance in the Argos cluster that was never investigated. Stuff like that tingles my spine and I can't wait to jump aboard a space ship and travel there.

Yes, I think if you're looking for something to compare its story to, the first thing I'd say is J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. Epic, character driven space opera.

You may find the side missions disappointing. The Mako (the vehicle you drive on other planets) handles terribly, and many of the side missions consist of "go here and kill this guy".

But the main quest is just so, so good. And apparently all the problems with the side missions have been fixed in "Mass Effect 2".

Yeah, going through the side missions are pretty boring, but I do love clearing out a whole room of bad guys within ten seconds with some help of the Bioweapons, and my shotgun.

Yeah, shotgun was what I always used.

However, similar to "BioShock", I found the biotic powers (or plasmids in that case) were awesome for about half the game, but I slowly began to just never use them.

By the end of "Mass Effect", the only powers I ever really used were Unity (to resurrect dead team members) and Adrenaline Burst (so I could use a health pack sooner).

And in "BioShock", by the last few hours of the game I only used guns.

IU beaten in under 22 hours. Some of the worst dialoge and cut scenes I've ever seen. Thank god it was short.

I'm doing my first playthrough of the original Mass Effect also and I'm enjoying the side quests (I've done tons of them). I'm at about level 30 and I just finished the part where you choose to let the bug queen live or die.

Haven't finished it yet, but I'm wondering if there's consequences on what you choose.

    I let it live.

I wouldn't be surprised if this choice affects the second game.

Sounds like a lot of that stuff happens in "Mass Effect 2".

Particularly...*spoiler'd for people who haven't finished the first game*

Condemned 2 on the PS3 is choppy as hell. If there's any rain on the level, the sound starts to clip. It's really bad. I'm glad I only paid $12 for it.

The game really is pretty fun, otherwise. Having people constantly sneaking up behind you and clobbering you is a big pain in the butt.

Did you play the first one?

I found it much scarier. "Condemned 2" got rid of a lot of the horror and became much more just an atmospheric action game.

Me too. I'm going the paragon route. I've already gotten the achievement for over 75% paragon.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I'm 26 hours deep into Mass Effect 2. Crazy how time creeps up on ya. Can't believe how much I played this weekend, and that's on top of a 4 hour tattoo session on Sat.

I'm replaying the first game as a hot evil woman.

I wish you had the option to make Shepard ridiculously fat and ugly. That would be awesome. Maybe even a multiple amputee, with a second head growing out of his neck.
