Today has been a very good day.

I submitted a horror script to a contest with a specific horror/sci-fi category. For an extra fee, I could get professional notes, so I opted for that.

I went to the grocery store to get food for the week, and it came out about $40 cheaper than I'd been anticipating. I spent $10 of that remaining forty on a couple'a beers at the pub up the street.

Watched Being There with a Peter Sellers. Wow! Fantastic movie.

And finally, I have a beef stew cooking in a crock pot. Three days worth of food, and it smells great.

    Here are my suspected reasons:

    1. not a hell of a lot of concrete stats to mull over
    2. popular internationally (and thus Americans don't want to be seen as merely followers)
    3. no possibility of advertisments during play
Doubt #2 has anything to do with it.

#1 is a good point since there's only 3-4 goals a game. Maybe. The frequent draws are annoying too.

#3 is a good point for the broadcasters. The fact that you can't leave for 45 minutes either may irk. Good point.

I'm curious as to what the experience of actually being there is like compared to sporting events here. Guess I'll find out.

Anyone know how long it takes them to figure out when the pools are figured out?

    Hmm.

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

I get two strange feelings sometimes (less often than I used to) that I associate with each other. One is when I'm lying in bed, and my head feels like it's rocking back and forth, when I know that I'm still.

The other (which is happening right now) is when I'm sitting up but I feel like I'm falling to the left.

    It's like vertigo, only sideways.

It was a great performance, that's for sure. He was a blast to watch.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

this is quite funny. due to weird, elaborated reason, now i have to go to work really early in the morning, take the afternoon off and back there again for an evening section. now i'm known and looked up to as the guy who comes first and leaves latest. :P

this work schedule kinda sucks though. hope i don't have to maintain it for long.

Consider that, as long as you somewhat maintain it, you probably won't ever have to buy another one. Unlike anything else really.

And it's cheaper than that car.

I just kind of assume that when I become a bicycle rider, I'll have a bicycle stolen once every two or three months or something. Maybe that's me being a little paranoid.

Yeah. If you take it to work, just take off the wheel. Still chain it up too if you're extra paranoid.

Can't say I know a friend who has had their bike stolen as an adult, so long as they take basic precautions.

Bikes get stolen here. My dad and brother-in-law have a bike stolen about once a year apiece.

They were chained up as well?

In Boulder and Denver, there's entire lots filled with bikes. Many of them aren't even locked up now, and I never overhear conversations about bikes being taken.

Still think taking the wheel off is the best. Too much freakin' work to steal that bike.

They both use bar locks. I think they're supposed to be really secure, but thieves here are hard core.

They take the bike to the metro, and it's not really feasible to carry the wheel on the rest of teh commute.

You must be some sort of superhero. How do you live in LA with no car or bike?

Quite aside from his vehicle-having/-not having, I've been thinking lovejuice is a superhero for quite some time now.

even though buses and trains suck in la, i don't mind riding them that much. i kinda think public transportation is the best way to explore the city. (say, how can i know of cinefile, otherwise?)

If you ever see this fly by overhead, your questions regarding lovejuice's transportation will be answered...

Oh, public transportation is great in concept (a great way to get around NYC and Atlanta for example), but the execution in LA is abysmal. It seems like you have to take at least 3 lines to get anywhere on a bus and while the trains are better in that regard, even the Metrolink would get expensive over time.
