I love it too. Google probably doesn't even have to try anymore.

I really like that song "Never Again" by The Midway State.

    Here it is.

This would usually be totally not my type of music...but I can't help but bop my head when I hear it.

It's been like that in LA County for a couple of years; at first, I hated it, but I so rarely dial someone that's not in my address book, I don't deal with it much.

Yeah, it's not going to impact my personal calling so much, but I work in an office that uses land lines and requires me to make a lot of phone calls.

I had to fire someone today. My first time ever doing that. He totally deserved it, but I still felt bad.

You know those people who have kind of a power trip when given an authoritative job/task like that? People who really get off on yelling at / putting down / firing workers who are "below them"?

I'm definitely not one of those people.

Hmm. I've decided that I'm going to start writing a screenplay that I hope to eventually direct myself, should I be able to acquire a passable camera for a no-budget amateur production and a PC capable of handling the workload. I've been so inspired these last few months, with images and dialogue exchanges and even entire sequences, right down to the timing of the edits, floating around in my head, and I can't bear the thought of never being able to express and share them, even if only to myself, a few close ones, and people on the internet. Just devising it all in my head alone has proven cathartic, as the piece has to do with assorted issues I have in the past or continue to deal with. ritch:

    That's fantastic, Rowland.

I don't think you'll need to break the bank for a camera. If the writing and ability to compose shots is there, the quality given by any half-decent camera should be good enough.

True conversation I just had with a woman referring her daughter (who is 19) in for psychiatric help.

Her: She's having real problems. She keeps making her boyfriend hit her.

    (pause)

Me: How is she making her boyfriend hit her?

    Her: By crying.

Wanna know a true thing? Because this is totally true.

The worst I have ever been beaten up was by a six year old. I was seventeen at the time.

And no, I didn't fight back. That's probably why I was beaten up so badly.

I realize I'm putting the "random" into the "random thoughts" today but...

I also got two new mice, and named them Beatrice and Bianca. First person to figure out their separate personalities gets measly rep and exuberant accolades.

When you say " their separate personalities," do you mean their allusions? Since I'm unclear about the meaning of the former, I'm just sticking to answering the latter. Naturally, I assume they're named after Shakespearean females (from Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew, respectively).

Mara, you are the epitome of an "English major."

The only thing Garrison Keillor can warn me about is listening to him.

Yeah, Beatrice is the more fearless and dominant one, and Bianca is more shy and ladylike.

Googling the Garrison Keillor thing, and it's hilarious.

I just had the most hilarious idea for a movie poster for a comedy movie called Shacking Up, which will feature an actor in his mid-to-late-thirties (Matthew Perry?) and an actress in her mid-to-late twenties (Katherine Heigl?). They will be holding boxes in front of an apartment door with hilarious looks on their faces.

Protruding from each box will be something embarrassing and sexual (like porn or a dildo or underwear or something).

Oh, man, I can just see it at the multiplex now!
