I just started it a few days also and thought the same thing. Three times now i've shot someone with a pistol as they were running towards me and their bodies flew so far away that it took me forever to find them.Quoting Winston* (view post)

Nah, not so much. Depends on the calibre and what not, but a .357 or .44 magnum will take off the back of the guy's (or girl's) skull.Quoting Winston* (view post)
The shotgun deaths are more 'realistic'. Jaw bones and eye balls go a flying!
And if you think the gore level is too much, then don't take the bloody disgusting or whatever perk. You gain 5% damage, but the enemies really get fucked up. Limbs go a flying!
“What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, er... an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks and that's all.”
Ah. We'll you'll be frustrated with the elevators in no time. It's inevitable.Quoting Ezee E (view post)
It's Official!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

YES.
The only thing that would have made the elevators worse is futuristic muzak.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
That's typical to the series' over-the-top gore quotient. It's supposed to be exaggerated for comical effect. Think Dead Alive or The Toxic Avenger.Quoting EyesWideOpen (view post)

Guys, I've started making games again (haven't worked on a game in six years). Been teaching myself Game Maker Language and I've nearly completed my first project, a ridiculously simple, one-room 2D platformer that I built from scratch. I'll be publishing it on my blog by week's end. I'd forgotten how awesome it is to write a game's story and mechanics, draw the pictures, design a level, and then actually maneuver through the thing.
That was my New Year's Resolution this year--to learn a new programming tool and create a game by the end of the year. This one I'm going to put out this week doesn't count, though, as it's kind of a glorified demo.
Still, fun!
FUCK. YES.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

destructoid posted a youtube link to the Mario Bros movie featurette. I've never watched the movie before but i'm kinda curious now.

Hey, has split screen multiplayer on shooters stopped being a something? Because I've been looking around reviews to see if there's a Timesplittersy game for PS3 and the only multiplayer I ever see mentioned is online, which I have no interest in.
Quoting Winston* (view post)
Yeah I think split-screen is a thing of the past now.
I'm sure most of them are capable of it, but you won't find reviewers talking about it much anymore.
I'm sure "Killzone 2" must have a split-screen mode...you should check up on that.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
yes, i was also pretty disappointed with the split screen for both Resistance 2 and Resident Evil 5, that tiny 4:3 aspect ratio is a joke.Quoting Winston* (view post)
I have lost almost all interest in online multiplayer.
And it's interesting that we're now losing local multiplayer that our resolutions can actually handle that kind of processor load better. Guess less people using the same copy equals more sales, theoretically, right?
Nice. Let me know when it's done.Quoting Sycophant (view post)
If you ever need some music for anything, let me know.
Thanks! The game should be published on my blog on Friday and I'll put a note here about it when it is.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)
I think a while back you were going to send me some samples of your musical work (for a film project I had at the time) but I never did get those. I'd be very interested in hearing what you have to offer and possibly working on something together/using some of your work in an upcoming project.

I posted them there a while ago.Quoting Sycophant (view post)
I am releasing all of my tunes and albums on my new website.
So far I've got 5 up there, with about 10 more to post.

So there are 5 full albums and samples to download, for free.
Just let me know if you like anything, or if you would like to work on something in the future. I'm totally down.
And I'm looking forward to checking out your game - I visited your blog yesterday, and it's got some great stuff on it.
Awesome! I'll be sure to check out your stuff when I get home from work tonight.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)
Thanks! I started daily blogging about five months ago and have found it a really refreshing creative exercise (and occasional severe headache).
This game I'm putting out by week's end (tentatively titled "About a Ball") is going to be pretty low-rent, but I have spent only all of about 10 days on it. But I mostly finished coding the engine and world/enemy objects a few days ago and am just having a blast arranging them. The game's pretty difficult (for me), and I'm enjoying being kind of evil with some of the challenges.
Splitscreen is not a thing of the past. There are plenty of people like me around, who loathe online multiplayer.
Davis, you still playing Titan Quest?
Speaking of multiplayer games...
The DLC pack for Left 4 Dead will be free for 360/pc. Now that is awesome. It has a new survival mode and Death Toll and Dead Air will be playable in Versus mode.
Due in sometime this Spring.
