agreed. i always like revisiting albums i never paid much attention to when i first got them, but it's good stuff. i remember being a pretty big fan of confield too.

stars of the lid's tired sounds of, william basinski's disintegration loops iv and gas' pop are my favorite ambient albums and well worth checking out

edit: and throw in the mysterious skin soundtrack by robin guthrie & harold budd

I don't know what prompted this post in this thread at this juncture, but I'm listening to Steve Roach's Structures From Silence now, so I'll throw a vote in for that. Actually, pretty much my three favorite albums of this decade are ambient/drone: Tim Hecker's Harmony in Ultraviolet, Deathprod's Morals and Dogma & Birchville Cat Motel's Beautiful Speck Triumph.

finally got to this and of course it's fantastic. as far as minimalist classical goes all i have is this, steve reich's music for 18 musicians, and some misc. philip glass.

Can anyone recommend more? I really love this stuff.
