    I think I missed something.
Spinal and I are having a huge feud.

Basically, he called me stupid, and I said, "no, you're the one who is stupid," and now because he and Raiders are BFF they are teaming up to filter my posts because they hate freedom.

I'm going to combat this problem with peace, love, and compassion.

I forgive Spinal and I harbor no ill will towards him. I love him dearly. If he wants to filter my posts, that is up to him.

Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill confirmed for Arkham Asylum.

    Fuck you, Mortal Kombat.
Totally. And FUCK MIDWAY if they think this once loyal MK fan is going to waste his money on a T-rated MK game. Seriously, fuck you, Midway.

Is the T-rating all people care about? Really?

It doesn't matter that the game is getting great reviews? The fact that you can't rip someone's skin off at the end makes it unworthy of playing?

    Lame.

I hear MKvDC is insanely fun.

    I might even play it.

My friend just got it from Gamefly.

I like what Jeff Gerstmann said about all the backlash of it being T-rated.

In his video review on Giant Bomb he mentioned how the Fatalities were like 3 seconds at the end of the match...and shouldn't it be the actual fighting (you know, the gameplay) that makes us come back to the game?

And since the fighting in the game is deep and intuitive, it's a great game.

Plus, he said even without the gore, the Fatalities and Heroic Brutalities are great.

I really like Jeff Gerstmann. I miss the golden years of GameSpot with him, Greg Kasavin, Alex Navarro and Brad Shoemaker.

Yeah, but Giantbomb is awesome. Way awesome.

I never liked the fatalities [edited for Spinal's sanity], and I always thought they were a dumb [edited for Spinal's sanity] reason to like MK. They were just gimmicks. MKvDC [edited for Spinal's sanity] sounds like it is built upon sound fighting mechanics, [edited for Spinal's sanity] this is why I am interested.

    According to Gamerankings ...

Average rating for MK vs. DC -- 79%

Average rating for MK: Deception -- 80% (And this was a mediocre game at best.)

Average rating for MK: Deadly Alliance -- 82% (An improvement over Deception, but still a mediocre fighting system.)

Average rating for MK: Armageddon -- 75% (Why? Because the fatality system was a fucking joke.)

So, now we have a T-rated MK game, getting scores that are lower than their most "successful" recent titles, and only a hair higher than the worst entry in the series since MK4.

No, I will not be buying this. There are plenty more T-rated fighting games with FAR better controls than MK. And this is coming from somebody who was an MK fan for years and years.

You haven't played it yet, so how do you know what the controls are like? It's supposed to be quite different.

All I'm saying is give it a shot before you write it off, it's supposed to be good.

It's a rental at best. I've seen a video of all the Fatalities and "Heroic Brutalities" (which I can't even type without snickering) and it all left me pretty "eh."

I've played all the MK games up to now, and the fighting systems on all the 3D ones have been buggy, poorly balanced, and slightly cumbersome -- even on the good ones. So, I can only expect more of the same, even with all their new little bells and whistles.

If the fighting system turns out to be something that blows my mind, of course I'll probably get it, but as I said, I don't expect that to happen. There are other, better fighting games out there without fatalities that I'd sooner play if the MK series is getting neutered.

I think the Test Your Might thing looks awesome in the new game.

I totally know what you mean about the fighting not translating well to the 3D realm. A lot of people have pointed out how the projectile attacks are pretty much nullified by the ability to side-step.

According to a review that I JUST read, all of the special attacks and special moves are universal across all the characters. So, a toward-toward-punch, for example, could be Kano's laser-eye, and Raiden's lightning, and Liu Kang's fireball, etc.

    Ahem ...

    LAME!!

    hehe...

Bought Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resistance second hand. I think I'm done purchasing video games 'til 2009.
Well that didn't last long. Got me another one. God damn you, internet trading sites.

It's the same shit when people refused to see Die Hard 4.0 because it wasn't R rated.

Still, it's hard to deny that hardcore fatalities were a huuuuuuuuuge draw of the MK games.

I agree, but Live Free or Die Hard sucked, and felt like a generic action movie with John McClane stuck in it to sell tickets.

    Which it apparently was.

And even without the swearing and ultra-violence, it was very un-Die Hard.

Totally, but I'd take good gameplay over cool 3-second fatalities any day of the week.

    The R Rated cut >>>>>>> PG-13 cut

Fatalities were the primary reason to own a MK game. I plan on checking out the PSN network today to see if the Street Fighter II HD thingie is up, and perhaps check out the Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit game, but I will not be checking out MK.

Mortal Kombat without the fatalities is a horrible, horrible game.

With the fatalities it's just horrible.

I've tried to play the single player in L4D earlier, but it's not much fun. Playing with other people is way better.

Also, I've found out that the zombies seem to be attracted to light. So if you're playing with a bunch of people and a horde of zombies come rushing towards you turn off your flashlight and they'll mostly tend run to the other guys that have their light on. You can avert attention a bit this way if you are low on health.

And you can grab the tank's attention by melee-ing it. Very useful when the tank has pinned one of your buddies to the ground. Be prepared to run though. :P

I just love all these people judging "MK vs. DC" before they've even played it.

That totally wouldn't fly in the FDT with regards to movies you haven't seen.

Sure it would. Happens all the time when we watch previews and declare it looking like shit and that we'll avoid it.
