Absolutely. I love how fast things go south in that final act.

Yeah, although to play devil's advocate for just a bit, I do prefer the way that Red Dragon introduced us to, and had us "spend time" with Dolarhyde earlier in its story, as opposed to the way that almost all of that was stuffed into the second half of Manhunter (although I have to assume that the former did this because that's the way it was structured in the book, and not because Brett Ratner is some sort of secret cinematic genius who actually makes his own creative decisions). Mann's version is still better on the whole though, because of course it is.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)

The Simpsons is where I first heard it, so that’s where my brain goes. With that said, that scene in Manhunter is awesome. I’ll have to revisit the movie because it’s been a looong time.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)

Things I’ve learned today: Remer, MN is obsessed with Bigfoot. Might have to swing through next time I head north and just marvel.

It was on Shudder but I think it was a limited time thing. That's how I rewatched it again. I've seen it at least three or four times.Quoting Scar (view post)

This conversation led me to look into finding a blu ray copy of Manhunter. Yeah, OOP, and expensive. 8 bucks later, and I added it to my digital collection. Suppose I’ll fire up Shudder again closer to Halloween.

My Anchorbay dvd set is good enough for me.
If I didn’t have a 6 dollar google play credit (and sore as shit from training for the mountains), I probably would’ve dug my DVD collection out of the rafters, because I’m pretty sure it’s in there.Quoting Skitch (view post)

I didn't mean that shitty, but certain movies I'm okay with being at a certain quality. Manhunter DVD, yeeep thats decent enough lol. I like some of my movies gritty.Quoting Scar (view post)
Oh, I know. As long as that last scene sounds great, I’d be fine with the DVD. I’m at the point where I’ll only double dip (maybe triple dip?), is if the sound quality is above and beyond the blu ray. Slight upgrades in video don’t mean much to me, but audio, oh yeah….Quoting Skitch (view post)

Oh yeah I feel ya. Rando movies that audio really gut punched in the upgrade to blu, Rounders and Akira. Rounders was really wild. Like, that movie isn't that crazy...but that score really punched on blu.Quoting Scar (view post)
Saving Private Ryan atmos track is in f’ing sane.

Tomorrow is A Midsummer Night's Scream.
I will be going as "Hawaiian vacation Bane".
There will be pictures.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
So is Manhunter really worth watching? I've watched so many Lecter movies/shows and I'm not a fan of Mann. Criterion has it.Quoting DFA1979 (view post)
I think it is but I'm a die hard fan of that movie and Mann's work.Quoting Yxklyx (view post)

Manhunter is fantastic and makes a great double feature with Red Dragon.
I think they each have things they do better than the other.
If you could do a remix/mish mash of the two movies together, you'd have something spectacular.

Jennifer Lopez going from "My Love Don't Cost a Thing" to "I Want the Dinero" is a character arc if I ever saw one.
