I work at a dollar store, and if shit is hitting the fan in my store and I have a vacation coming up, vacation is cancelled.

Why do people who make more money in a year than I'll see in my lifetime have less responsibility than me?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Ted Cruz keeps getting elected partly thanks to voter suppression but also because a lot of Texans will vote for Charles Manson before they ever vote for a Democrat.

I feel like this is a big part of why there is so much strife in America right now.

Both parties' supporters have such indignant hatred of absolutely anything or anyone that represents the opposing side, that they will actively vote in people or processes that screw them over, just to stick it to the other guys.

I'm certain this accounts for a very large percentage of Trump's supporters. They weren't voting FOR Trump, they were voting AGAINST Hillary.

Beto came pretty dang close. He may try again in a few years.

I don't think this is true... It plays into the very dangerous "...on both sides" narrative that boils things down to "clashing opinions" instead of a series of very serious rifts that don't necessarily run along party lines: conservativism vs. progressivism, globalism vs. isolationism, liberal capitalism vs. democratic socialism, small government vs. strong government, science denial vs. climate, health and energy crisis, rise of right wing extremism, racism and fascism vs. increased human rights protections... The Republican side seems to overlap with the conservative, right wing, corporate, anti-science views far more than establishment Democrats overlap with the opposing movements and concepts, and that's why they managed to pull off all the things they pulled off ever since the early first Obama term...

It's my two European cents, anyway.

I meant more as the US has people who vote for a certain party no matter what. As for the both sides aspect it would be nice if the Dems presented more of a stark contrast. Foreign policy wise there is very little difference.

I charged some friends with getting Cowboy Bebop watched in 2021. Apparently you can get the whole series on Vudu for $7.99 and on Amazon for $4.99. No excuses left, people that havent watched it!

All right, Meg. I'm making poutine tonight. I couldn't find the cheese curds that "squeak" as you said. The only ones I could find were some relatively high-end ones. White cheddar. They are delicious. I did get frozen fries that I'm going to "fry up" in the air fryer. Then I got a packet of "brown gravy" seasoning that I'll throw together with some beef broth. My plan is to make the poutine and then maybe make myself a lovely dirty martini and then watch either a horror movie or a bunch of episodes of The Muppet Show which just landed on Disney+.

    Edit:

I may watch Cobra with Stallone instead. Feeling kinda like a trashy grumbly-guys-with-guns movie tonight. Don't know. Maybe Death Wish 2. I've thought about going through all the Death Wish movies like I did with the Dirty Harry movies.

Brown gravy was made and is now cooling a bit to thicken it up.

That sounds fantastic!!! Please let me know how it turns out.

What kind of fries did you get? I don't mean brand, like, thick cut? Shoestring? Big chunk steak fries?

Poutine was good, but I think the gravy needs to be thicker next time. Soaked into the fries instead of covering them. Cheese curds were so damn good, though.

Cobra ... nearly put me to sleep. Astonishing how boring it is, honestly. Didn't finish it. Don't know if I'll return to it.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

I can just eat a bag of curds like they're potato chips.
