Yeterday a female friend in my class who is 30 years old was telling me how she misses her husband a lot because he is away on business.

She then went on to say that she's, "glad they've been married so long, because she no longer feels pressured to have to have sex with him - they have sex maybe once or twice a year, and that's more than enough for her".

I had to hold back my reply of, "so, you're basically friends who live together?"
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Yeh, that was the next thought in my mind.

Really, is it shallow of me to say that I could not take a sexless marriage?

I mean, I understand that sometimes people just have "down periods" where they are depressed or consumed by other things in their life and sex is not on their mind. But if I was in a marriage where it was "once or twice a year", I would want out.

Ditto for her. Why do you think she was telling you this, eh Meg?

It's nice to know that there are women out there who enjoy sex just as much as men.

Maybe that whole myth of women not enjoying sex is just because their husbands were horribly unimaginative.

Hard to say. I certainly believe in the separation of love and sex (and I apply it to my marriage though in a different manner), so I'd buy it if a woman doesnt require sex in hers. I don't think it's healthy, but it doesn't have to damage a relationship.

If I was with a woman who was totally uninterested in sex with me, I would interpret that as her not finding me physically attractive.

    Which would be pretty hurtful.

Last night I attempted to drink my problems away.

I drank a full 26er of scotch and I wasn't even feeling the alcohol.

So I smoked a joint the size of my middle finger, and that did the trick.
Heh I've only combined the two once. And only because I was drunk. I don't usually smoke. In fact I'd say I've only done it a handful of times in my life.

I can't feel the effects of alcohol unless I smoke.

And even then, it just feels like I'm really, really baked. Not like I'm drunk, which I am still unsure as to what it feels like.

In my maintenance job, I work with probably 85% women, and since I'm fixing things a lot, they usually don't notice that I'm around. And yes, it's a mega myth. and the husbands seem to run out of tricks after a while.

    Really? That's crazy.

And yeah I agree that the only thing a sexless marriage would likely lead to is a divorce or one or both spouses cheating on each other.

    Amazon wireless reading device

Also have the option to receive the newspapers on a monthly basis, as well as magazines.

This is a huge gadget that I'm surprised I haven't heard about. Both in good ways and bad. It looks awesome, and the fact that you can change the size of the type, and receive everything is pretty great. The downside is that it is probably a bit big, and newspaper companies will be hating it.

When they eventually come up with the "roll up" reading device, which is already being invented in Japan, there won't be a need for paper!

    Anyone getting one of these?

Absolutely not. Marriage is about intimacy, and physcial intimacy is as important as emotional intimacy. After all, if she said she enjoyed sex with her husband but didn't really like him, we would all classify that as a "bad marriage," right? It's all part of the package.

If she "felt pressured" before the marriage for sex, chances are she never really enjoyed it much to begin with.

I've never been married, but I've developed strong feelings about this based on my last roommate. She was divorced by 24 and felt absolutely devastated about that-- she always really believed that she would marry one man and stay married for the rest of her life, no matter what. She ended up leaving him for a ridiculously long list of reasons (he was unfaithful, he was abusing the dogs, he was gambling, he was stealing money from her, etc.) but one of them was that he witheld sex. After the honeymoon, she was lucky if he slept with her every four or five months. She would beg for sex, and told me it was the most humiliating experience of her life. After the first year, she gained weight and began to have deep-rooted self-esteem issues that she's still not over.

From my position, what he did to her emotionally was just as bad as abuse. I truly believe that he enjoyed the power of the situation, and since she was a better person than him, she could have no sex at all while he ran around and had it with other people and witheld it from her. Jerk.
