Two of my friends were accused of rape in high school by the same girl. It went as far as getting to the police where they brought me in to question me on where my friend's whereabouts where on a certain day. Apparently the girl didn't think about that whole alibi thing and when you make up a story, try to pick a time of the day where that person would most likely be alone. 12 years later, we laugh about it.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I have had to pee real bad for the past 10 minutes.
That sounds awful. If only there was something you could do.

I was accused of attempted rape once, but it hardly even bears mentioning. It was so obviously fake her own friends didn't believe her.

It was my first "girlfriend" - grade 7, mushy "oh I love you so much!" stuff. We never even held hands or saw each other outside of school - just googly eyes in class and love notes.

I come in one day and everyone is looking at me weird, and she's not talking to me. Don't know why, and it bothered me, but whatever.

She had told people that she went over to my house the previous night (not true - like I said we'd never even seen each other outside of school). She said that my mom held her down so I could rape her repeatedly.

Yes, she involved me mother as well.

Have to report for jury selection tomorrow. Really, really worried about if I can afford it. Going to mention that my sister is a public defender in Illinois, and so I hear about the law a lot (which is 100% true). Will this help me get out of it? It can't make me more likely to be selected, right?

In my experience, almost everyone who is there offers some sort of information hoping to be excused. I'm not sure that there's much you can do.

I've been called into jury duty three times and almost half the people tried to come up with some bullshit excuse and the judge told pretty much all of them fuck off on every occasion. Those people are the worst. Don't be one of those people. I didn't get picked any of the three times by the way.

On the plus side, being on a jury was fascinating. I'm glad to have had the experience. Although, yes, it can mess with your daily routine.

It's more money I'm worried about - my work doesn't reimburse - so I'm trying to sort out how to work off-hours and split up personal days should it come to that.

If I weren't tight financially, I'm sure I'd find it interesting the way you did.

    Your work doesn't reimburse?

I'm pretty sure in Canada it is illegal for an employer to do this. I'm surprised it's not that way in the States.

Most jobs I've had in the US do not reimburse you for jury duty or if they do only give you like $10 for the day. They are required by law to give you the time off though.

Yeah, the state of California reimburses you $15 per day plus mileage after the first day.

I was almost selected for jury duty once. Didn't happen though. You could always say you support the death penalty.

I was chatting with my 5-year-old niece today and mentioned that my tomatoes aren't coming in really well this year. She looked serious and said, "You should send the soil away for testing."

I said, "You really are your mother, do you know that?"

Later on, I was going to relay this precociousness to my sister, so I started off telling her that niece and I were discussing my thin yield of tomatoes, and my sister interrupted and said, "You know, it's really worth sending your soil off to get tested."

Yes I know. Your five-year-old told me.

You too? At this rate I'm doubtful my tomatoes will be ready by Christmas.

The rest of my garden produce is wonderful, so I shouldn't complain, but I really wish I had more tomatoes. I think I will need to actually buy a bunch to make my homemade pasta sauce in a few weeks. I generally make enough for all year and freeze it.

Luckily my sister always knows which farmers at the market will sell you an absurd quantity of produce for a reduced price, especially if you don't mind some bruises. (And if I'm making sauce, why would I mind?)

I got jury duty once, and I was really hoping I would get selected, but basically I just sat in a waiting room for two days and then they told me to go home. Never even got into a court room. Got less than $20. Plus donuts.

    First world problems:

When there is a drop-down list of states, Maryland should be the equivalent of clicking two "M"s. But every once in awhile, they include funny states, and I will suddenly put down that I live in the Marshall Islands, or Manitoba.
