While I obviously feel that Unforgiven did a good job of deconstructing the Western as a whole, that's not the main reason why I love it, as I barely noticed that aspect of the film at all when I first watched it (at the age of 14); the main reason I loved it was because I found it to be emotionally entrancing as a stand-alone narrative, and then I appreciated the way it deconstructed the genre much later.Quoting baby doll (view post)
