Eh. You look at the Big 6, mainstream is already homogeneous. It's been that way for awhile. I don't see how going from 6 megacorps to 5 will really change anything. (I'd also like to suggest that said megacorps do not represent "cinema," however we may define it.)

    Here's a list of films under 20th Century Fox's banner from 2000 on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...%80%93present)

Mostly it's multiplex crap like "Taken 3" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked." I don't see much that couldn't be produced at other studios. So what exactly are we mourning?

I think the superhero trend is past the halfway point of its life cycle.

Based on what? The increase of box-office results after each subsequent release?

That doesn't sound like a bathtub curve at all.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Also, I'm not very familiar with the comics here, but what is Thor bench-pressing? It kinda looks like that Earth-weight machine Superman was testing his limits on.

Third time watching. I get the sense there are four separate stories going on.

One in Space with Thor, Loki and GotG
One in Brooklyn/NYC with Spidey, Iron Man and Doctor Strange (and Hulk)
One in Wakanda with Rogers, Natasha, Hulk (though somehow Hulk makes the trip to Africa presumably by Strange's portal), Black Panther, Warmachine, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Vision and Scarlet.

    Noticeably absent:

Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Fury, Maria Hill Valkyrie (secrete fourth story)

Almost didn't recognize Chris Pratt at first glance. So much superhero facial hair avalanche in one trailer.
    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8

Black Widow went blond in hair and eyebrows. Makes her look like she has no eyebrows. It's weird.

Comment for those who understand: It looks like this is going to be based more on Jonathan Hickman's Infinity than Jim Starlin's original Infinity Gauntlet saga.

Comment for those who don't: Looks neat.

The end of all things edgy and creative? Disney is famous for their family-friendly content, while in recent years, Fox's contributions to the superhero genre have made themselves unique by being R-rated, grounding themselves in different genres (I know you didn't like it, but Logan was a western at its core while New Mutants looks like a horror movie), and giving directors the keys to their tentpoles, which resulted in great movies (the Planet of the Apes prequel trilogy is the best one of its kind to come out, in my opinion). Also Fox Searchlight has been a studio for the big indie auteurs (GDT, Aronofsky, Inarritu) to release their work, and is one of the more consistent studios to put out Oscar winners this decade, while both FX networks have a wide range of compelling dramas and edgy adult comedies.

When Disney buys Fox, all of that gets cancelled and destroyed in favor of lazy, neutered, big-budget mediocrity rated PG-13, for the sake of a massive toy collection for Disney to flaunt for its streaming service.

I don't think that's a fair assumption. Why can't the Fox Brand operate independently from the Disney brand?

    Looks sweet.

I really love the main Avengers theme.

I was going to bring this up earlier. But remember when people complained about how generic the MCU scores were (and still are for the stand alone movies)? The one exception being The Avengers theme; has really become much more prevalent and memorable.

That they'll use Hela to replace "death" in the Infinity Gauntlet story.

Ah, I see. I doubt it, but even if they use that as Thanos' motivation, I still think it looks more like Hickman's story. I was riffing off of your comment about there being simultaneous battles separately in space, NYC, and Wakanda. That's exactly how Thanos' attack in Infinity went down. Infinity Gauntlet was a story about a suicide mission to challenge God, while Infinity was an alien invasion story, and this movie looks more like the latter.

Yeh it sure does and you're most likely right. I doubt it too. I was hoping Disney would take some risks here. An Alien invasion story is much less ominous than Thanos killing trillions of people in the universe. I would have liked to see some deaths in the Avengers, even if only it was reversed in Avengers 4 by the SOUL stone. I still think characters will die (Vision for example) but if Thor, Stark or Rogers died it would be much more dramatic.

Still would be cool to see her show up.

Also interesting to see Thanoes with the POWER and SPACE stones already. And attempting to gain the MIND stone from Vision. Do we think he collects them all in this 1 movie?
