Really been digging Wye Oak's Civilian since first listening to it. This sounds even better; I hope it's on their next album.

The new Swans album is an absolute beast in every way possible. 2 hours, including one 30-minute and two 20-minute tracks, of epic, face-melting music. I liked their last album a lot, but it's pretty clear that was a dry run for The Seer.

Where did you find the new album? I was under the impression that it doesn't release until the end of the month. The fall tour is going to be a scorcher. Are you going to the LA show?
The Red Shoes (Powell, 1948)
Manhattan Murder Mystery (Allen, 1993)
Spring Breakers (Korine, 2012)
Sydney (Anderson, 1996)
El ángel exterminador (Luis Buñuel, 1963)
Cannot wait for the new Swans, I'm trying to avoid listening to any of it until the official release. Thinking about taking the 4 hour plus drive to see them in either Dallas or Tulsa, but so far can't find anybody to go with.
Yep, seeing them in LA on September 11th...could it be the apocalypse!?? Seek within your soul and you may find the album.Quoting endingcredits (view post)
I know Gira's on record pleading for people to wait for the official release, but I'm paying $40+ to see them live, plus I'll buy the LP (and a shirt if there's a good one) at the show, so I can live with myself.![]()
Completely forgot about how awesome this was and still is:

"We eventually managed to find them near Biskupin, where demonstrations of prehistoric farming are organized. These oxen couldn't be transported to anywhere else, so we had to built the entire studio around them. A scene that lasted twenty-something seconds took us a year and a half to prepare."

Not a fan of Mayer, but this video is one shot and it's kinda cool.

We should start putting youtube links in spoiler tags, because this thread has become practically unviewable.
Anyhow, this guy rules.

Tom Lax (of Siltbreeze Records) did a set of all 7"s on WFMU. Listening to it now, reveling in the beautiful obscurity.

The severed arm perfectly acquitted itself, because of the simplicity of its wishes and its total lack of doubt.
First track off of Enslaved's new album. I dig that guitar tone and the clean vocals--sounds like a great continuation of their previous work...

Kevin Ayers - May I?
Hard to believe this (along with his best stuff) is over 40 years old.
I just came in off the street
Looking for somewhere to eat
I find a small cafe
I see a girl and then I say
May I sit and stare at you for a while?
I'd like the company of your smile

I really love Michael Quercio's version of this Beach Boys' classic:

If you've ever seen Cabaret you might enjoy this video of Alex Harvey taking a bit of a piss on Hitler in his remake of this song from the film:
(YouTube has flagged the video thusly: "The following content has been identified by the YouTube community as being potentially offensive or inappropriate. Viewer discretion is advised.") Rubbish. SAHB were hardly fascists or Nazis.
