After spending about a month fearing that Sarah and I would work at universities as adjuncts around the Chicagoland area, a university came through with full-time employment for Sarah. So we'll be moving to Bartleville, Oklahoma in July.

The bummer: it's not Seattle; the positive: it's where Malick grew up and where he shot To the Wonder apparently...
    Ew, Oklahoma.

Today in the Sunday School class I manage for 18-month to 3-year-olds, someone donated a few toy cell phones, which the kids were really happy about. They ran around pretending to have cell phone conversations, and it was hilarious. Here's what I heard:

"My phone is dying! My phone is dying!"

"I'm gonna have to call you back, I'm super busy."

    "Sorry, sorry, I totally forgot!"

"Can you text me the information?"

    "Tell me about it." <--from a 2-year-old, with a world-weary sigh
    ...and the milk's in me.

I love this kind of stuff.

Bruno Mars tweeted them specifically saying:

Congrats to Isaac Lamb and the future Mrs.. I don't think I could've made a better music video for this song. Thank you

I saw that a couple days ago. It gets SO CLOSE to being ridiculous and stupid, but somehow doesn't cross the line. It's pretty cute.

Word to the wise: shave your ridiculous mustache before going viral.

Shouldn't that be word from the wise?

Anyway, mustache shaving is always good advice. It reminds me of that old Portuguese proverb Eu tenho oito bigodes e devo rente.

I can see that idiom going either way. I guess "from" makes more sense, though.

One of my pet peeves is when people say, "I could care less."

Who edited my above post? I wrote "could" on purpose.

    I could care less.

EDIT: It's on auto-correct, Lucky. Probably an admin's pet peeve, too.

Hah, I wasn't aware of an auto-correct feature on this forum. That blew my mind for a minute. I thought I typoed, but when I tried to edit the post it was correct.

What else is on the auto-correct list?

I believe when you type Danny and immediately follow it with Huston, the forum changes it to a picture of a foamy KF stomping on kittens.

These are Portland theatre folks, so I know some of the people in the video. The dude who kisses his boyfriend is a member of my theatre company.

When did it become lip-dub, rather than lip-sync?

There's a sick little part of me that always hopes the person being asked will say no.

    Just for the dramabomb.

I'm kind of confused by this. I think it's lip-dub because she's listening to headphones and the dubbing happens later so that we can hear what she was hearing. But I'm not sure how the participants heard the music. Because if they could hear it, why would she need headphones?

Isn't Memorial Day for remembering military people who have died?

Isn't it weird to thank people who are currently serving in the military on Memorial Day? Kind of like saying, "Thanks for your imminent death."

Anyway, I'm a left-wing artiste sitting on his ass surfing the web on Memorial Day, so my opinion probably doesn't carry much weight.

It is not a good look.

I haven't actually met Isaac and Amy, oddly enough. But it's one of those deals where I basically know everybody they know. They're always near the top of my Facebook suggested friends list.

Is the chick in the red dress single? I would consider getting 60+ people together for a song and dance number for her.
