“What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, er... an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks and that's all.”
I know. I can't wait to see more.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
Wow. I'm really curious to see how this looks in motion. These are gorgeous.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)
I just traded my copy of Dead Rising into GameStop for $15 like 2 days ago. Meh, I wasn't that into it anyways.
Everyday Shooter is a great little time waster.
I decided not to get any games. It just wasn't worth it - the prices are too high, and games with low prices were either sold out, or titles I wasn't interested in deeply enough to fork out the cash.
I love going to stores that sell used games, and seeing a game new for $59.99, or used for $56.99 - the savings are spectacular.

Since I first heard about it from The Ubiquitous Mr. Davis, I've been to the Champions Online site about five times.
I think this is the game that will finally get me to make the jump to the current gen.

Did you play the original RPG at all?Quoting bac0n (view post)
It features the most robust character creation system I've ever seen.
For one campaign, I actually made Tetsuo, from Akira, and every few minutes I had to roll to see if I would lose control of myself thus turning into a giant blob.
Wow, that rules!Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)
Ya know, back in the 80s, when I was into RPGs, I played the Marvel RPG, which I liked well enough, but shit, if I woulda known you could turn into a giant blob in Heroes, I woulda been all over that shit!
As it stands, the main selling points for Champions On-Line are 1) it's being made by Cryptic Studios, who did a bang-up job with City of Heroes/Villains and 2) It's an action MMPORPG, which I hope means the combat will be a little more fluid than CoH's was, and 3) CoH's character creation was pretty robust, and I read that Cryptic is taking the cue from Champions RPG in making the online versions Character Creation as deep as it can be.

I started with the Marvel RPG, but as soon as I was introduced to Champions, and the HERO system, there was no going back.Quoting bac0n (view post)
The best thing about the system is how adaptable it is. It's kind of like Steve Jackson's GURPS (Generic Universal Role Playing System) but more refined and more fun to actually play.
I just hope they don't have a fee to play on the 360, because I don't pay monthly fees to play games, beyond the yearly fee for Live.
I've heard of the GURPS system, but never got into it. My main motivation for doing Marvel was so I could roleplay some of the major story lines of the time, such as Secret Wars I and II, with my own guys... which I probably could have done with Champs, but hey, I was in highschool and a total Marvel fanboy at the time.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)
And yeah, I hope the standard Live fee gets me access to Champs-Online. I can see an additional fee totally killing the participation from folks like me, who would prefer to play the game on a console rather than a PC.

It's ironic that you could play a better Marvel RPG not using the Marvel RPG. We made all of our favorite Marvel and DC heroes in Champions, and they were way more robust of faithful than their Marvel RPG counterparts.Quoting bac0n (view post)
When you design a character in Champions, you start with a base set of points, say 50, to spend on your powers and stats. Each perk or advantage costs points, and each disadvantage or quirk gives you points. So you could make a dude who could basically destroy the sun, but he's also scared of being alive. It's a lot of fun to make these incredibly powerful heroes that have major disadvantages. It makes for a fun and unpredictable game.
Wow, so the tech behind the next Alone in the Dark game is impressive.

Wow, I REALLY hope this sorta stuff makes it into Champs Online (which I have no reason to believe it wouldn't). It's the imperfections that make characters interesting, at least in my eyes.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)

Yeah, I hope so too.Quoting bac0n (view post)
It was always fun to start out with 0 points, and build characters by piling on the disadvantages. You would end up with these incredible messed up heroes, and they were really fun to role play.
Wow. I liked that a lot better than the one in the actual game.Quoting iosos (view post)

Wow, "Champions Online" looks wicked...but holy wait-time, Batman. December 2009???

After listening to the last EGM podcast with Dennis Dyak, I could not possible be more excited for Too Human.
Garnet Lee said it's the best next-evolution of Diablo 2 he's played. Basically, it's everything that Hellgate: London wanted to be.
4-player co-op, hundreds of unique, awesome looking items that actually change the appearance of the characters, cyberpunk themes mixed with Norse mythology, dungeon crawling, epic story, fun combat...
I can't wait for this.
ANyone get Frontlines? I just bought it on steam.
Actually, what I've read has the release date at Spring/Q2 2009. Still a long wait, but not nearly that long...Quoting megladon8 (view post)

Oh well that's not so bad.
GameSpot has the release date set at December 2009, so I got a little like "um...that sucks".

This is a Parkour game it would seem. Some of those leaps look insanely vertiginous!
