Sometimes it's better to step back for a few hours or even a day or two. I've noticed with the God of War games there's a tendency to think that perhaps they're unfair because button mashing by itself isn't having the desired effect, resulting in certain psychopatic tendencies involving pillows and whatnot. When in fact the game is cleverer than that and specific tactics, singling out certain enemies before tackling the other ones for example, is the way to go.

@Duke: Not saying you didn't recognize this, but you get the point.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

$279 from where I'm sitting. Not much to get excited about.

I thought "Braid" was pretty great stuff, though the latter levels were a little too obtuse. Not to mention that collecting one of the stars in an earlier level requires leaving the game on and still for like 3 hours, which is hard to do because your controller will continuously turn off due to non-use, which pauses the game and ruins it.
There was another way to do it. I didn't have to do this.

    SSX trailer.

100,000 players live at once?! Is that something worth bragging about? They can't mean on the same track?

Lots of clips involving jumping over a mid-air helicopter... I wonder what happens when you don't quite make it over?

Portal 2 is freaking excellent, even if you haven't played part 1 it's definitely worth a try. It's a big studio game with an indie spirit.

God, the God of war games certainly necessitate serious persistance to traverse certain areas. Perhaps I'll play part III on normal.
That clip is from Challenge Mode. But I've had many more scream-and-throw-controller moments on GOWI and II, if you beat those, III won't be much of a problem.

And yes, sometimes taking a break, a day or two even, you pick up a difficult part again and you beat it on the first try. I've read that it's because you need to sleep in order for your brain to process learning, i'm not sure about that but i gave up on bayonetta at hard difficulty, it was too much punishment (and i loved Demon's Souls).

Climbing the rotating pillar in GoWI drove me in-fucking-sane. I probably burned through a pack of cigarettes when I first tried it, oh so many years ago.

When I picked up the GoW collection a few months back, the pillar was not nearly as difficult. My gaming skills have improved.

I was kind of surprised at my lack of desire to replay the God of War games after beating them. I figured I'd get to replay them with the last weapon, but it doesn't give you the option. So after going through once, I did not feel like going through again.

Same here. Half of the reason I have not bought one is because of the price. However with this and the fact that many of the Greatest Hits games are now $20 instead of $30 makes it more palatable.

The other half of the reason why I haven't bought a PS3 is that I'm simply still playing through my pile of PS2 games. I still have Final Fantasy 12 to get through as well as several other miscellaneous titles.

This is what I get for playing every single character in all the Dynasty Warrior games.

I'm not one for replaying games, but the God of War games (well, 1 and 2) are definitely not on the list. They....felt like hard work sometimes. Brilliant, legendary, but completing them felt like a relief, closure.

Me neither. Certain games already demand too much time and I try to accomplish the most during my first playthrough, sometimes i revisit older games but i need a space of months, or years.

My favorite game this generation was Demon's Souls, did 100% of the events in the game, absolutely loved every minute but I was done with it, some of my friends beat it like four times in a row!

    amazing!

You realize that sitting at home with a puny 40 inchflatscreen and measly controller doesn't even begin to scrape at what's possible in terms of upping the realism and excitement factor. But, I do wonder whether three screens works exclusively with the in-car view?

I'll rarely revisit a game once I've finished it. Unless it's something massive like the Fallout games, or a game like Infamous that changes depending upon your choices.

Heh, this free Ipad game Hard Linesis pretty neat! It's like a cross between Tron, Centipede and Robotron. It was only free for a day however.
