I stick to legal shit these days. I've enjoyed pot before, but I like hookah the best. Beer's good, too.

Is it sad that I find pages like "Not Being Raped by a Bear" on Facebook to be hysterical?

AFter the current string of bear related commercials the past couple of days, I'd say bears are "In" as far as popular things go.

    Any cigar smokers here?

I enjoy the occasional cigar but I don't know anything about them.

    This describes me as well.

I had a Romeo & Julietta a couple of weeks ago with some friends at a barbecue and enjoyed it.

My brother, who is huge into cigars (smoking them 3 or 4 times a week) brought me over a few of his expensive imports to try out.

I just smoked a Monte Cristo and, again, really enjoyed it. A beautiful flavour to it.

I'll never be an aficionado, but yeah, they're enjoyable.

You know, for ONCE IN MY LIFE I'd like to not be sick on vacation. I don't know how my body always knows that I'm supposed to be resting, but I want the sabotage to stop. NOW.

I'm now on a course of antibiotics which should finish the morning before I step on a plane, but chances are I'll come down with a cold or E Coli or (to shake things up) a broken wrist or something. Last year it was both a killer respiratory infection and a sprained ankle.

I was hobbling through the airport in an ankle brace, wheezing pathetically.

I think taking good vacations is a talent, and I just don't have it.

Hope you feel better Mara. :-/

I started Grad school this past weekend. It was a full weekend residency.

I expect my free time to drop off dramatically between now and the end of the year. So less movie watching for me. I'll still post during the day.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I think it has a lot to do with changes in lifestyle once you go somewhere - for example, Dina always has problems with digestion when we go to Croatia and has to take pills for her stomach to work at all, where I have the opposite experience... my hair is better, I lose up to 10 kilos and buff up from swimming and hiking and generally feel amazing afterwards.

I'm sure that's part of it, and also riding on airplanes tends to spread germs.

But I often get injured or ill just before vacation. (In this instance, I'm leaving Wednesday and came down with an infection on Saturday.) Bad luck, I guess?

By the way, I just slammed the hell out of my thumb in a file drawer. It's turning pretty sunset colors. If that's my Injury of the Week, I'll count myself lucky. Last weekend I just went on a brief trip and managed to slice two fingers open. Oi.

    Freaking roommate.

After having my sister to dinner tonight, I was doing dishes and my roommate started hinting that she wanted to go to an activity. She doesn't have a car, so she can't go unless I take her. I apologized and said I didn't feel up to it. She wheedled and pleaded and finally said, "You know, you really need to be more social. I'm worried about you."

And that got me because I know I'm not social. So I agreed and changed my clothes and we drove over. But once there (it was downtown) there was no parking. So I circled for fifteen minutes and finally said, "I'm just letting you out. You go to your thing and get a ride home if you can, otherwise I'll come get you."

Drove home, and someone took my flipping parking spot, so I circled for another half an hour and ended up parking eight blocks away. It was a ten minute walk back to my house, and I know she's going to be calling me for a ride home, which means another drive over, another lost parking space, and ANOTHER half hour looking for parking a mile away.

I HATE BEING SOCIAL. IT SUCKS POO POO.

Oh I didn't know you'd gotten a roommate already. That seems quick. Hope other than the current issues that she's amiable.

She just moved in last Wednesday. She seems pretty nice. Lots of personal drama, which is a red flag, but sweet-tempered and tidy. I think it will be fine.

I'm going to Oregon, Northern California, and Southern California. Long trip.

Bad idea to have a roommate that is going to rely on you for transportation.

I attempted to be social, which was Mistake Number One. I should know by now that nothing nice happens when I leave my house. My house has books, internet, DVDs, food, board games, yarn, a comfy bed, rhythm and music. Who could ask for anything more?

Yeah, you may eventually have to politely draw a line if she continues to try to guilt you into going out and/or giving her a ride. It's kind of weird that she said she's worried about you after living with you less than a week, but hopefully it was more because she wanted to hang out with you than to leech a ride.

I got my annual birthday Churchill last week - I'm still trying to work up to it, gradually.

Well, all that takes is a couple of phone calls - and forty bucks, depending on your neighborhood.
