there are gameplay videos floating around, but the game's a MMO so i wasn't much hyped - got exactly what i expected.

that CG trailer is bad-ass though :P

edit: oh, finally got me a gaming-capable PC after lingering a few years with a crappy intel based notebook, which only game that ran half-decently was Torchlight. I'm getting the Mass Effect games and Witcher or Starcraft2 soon after, what other PC games i should try? i'm not into shooters so scrap them unless they are called Half Life. Any indies?
Download steam; and go nuts with Trine, Alien Swarm (free), Dragon Age, Beat Hazzard, Audiosurf, Nation Red and Braid.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Love Trine and you definitely need a Steam account. Other indie games I recommend...

Osmos (Trippy time waster. Pretty hard after the first few levels)
DEFCON (Global Thermonuclear War from WarGames)
Altitude (basically Team Fortress 2 with 2D cartoon airplanes)
Shatter (BreakOut style game with an amazing soundtrack)

I really like Tropico 3 and Just Cause as well. JC is pretty average as a shooter but if you play it like a sandbox just to do cool stuff like attaching a grappling hook to a statue and tearing it down with a Humvee, the it's cool. Probably more but the last Steam sale gave me an enormous backlog that I haven't even started on yet.

Also, I just picked up Starcraft 2 today. I hear the campaign is pretty short though, 13-15 hours.

I also would recommend DEFCON. I downloaded SC2 last night, just need to buy a token now.

Just in case anyone wants a StarCraft 2 guest pass to try it out. It allows you 7 hours of game time or 14 days, whichever comes first.

I've never played Starcraft and I generally don't like RTS, but I may have to check out Starcraft 2.
    Sure why not?

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) - 9
STRONGER (David Gordon Green) - 6
THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9
LADY BIRD (Greta Gerwig) - 8

Heh. Someone recreated Limbo on Little Big Planet.

    "Limbo" was quite the experience.

I really am starting to move to D's side that a game's cost should be relative to its quality rather than length - though length does play a part. I used to think longer was always a good thing, but not so much anymore.

Ever since "Okami", I've been noticing more and more games I play feel spread too thin. The makers had 15 hours of great content and turned it into a 40 hour game just because. This seems all-too-common.

This is something I really appreciated about "Batman: Arkham Asylum" - it was about 10 hours, but 10 packed hours. There was never a point where I felt "OK, I've found everything, fought everyone - why is the game still going on?"

And back to "Limbo", it's 1200 points (about $15) and the game is only about 3 hours long. But it was an incredible 3 hour experience, and I've already played it through twice.

To me, that was $15 well-spent, length be damned.

Kind of expensive to me, despite how good it is. I'll wait a few months until they have a half-off deal for it.

This is a picture of Gran Turismo 5 3d. I realize the picture is probably far too slick and sharp (aka bullshot), but eventually I hope this becomes a standard for videogaming as it just looks utterly fabulous.

    Wow, yeah, that's pretty amazing.

I thought "Forza 3" was unbelievable, but that's a step up.

Yeah, but again, it probably won't look like that. I mean, looking at this pic, we're probably talking about 60 frames per second, FULL HD, FSAA action. And I doubt the game can run with those parameters. Throw in the 3D aspect and rumours of decimated frame rates (60 ---> 30) because of the extra dimension, and the slickness you see in that pic will not be realistic. I mean, fuck look at how crisp and shiny the meters on the dashboard stand out!

I'd never buy a hardcore game like GT 5, but if it really, truly looked just like that picture, I would in an instant.

You also have to take into account that racing games often look bloody brilliant in motion but if you were to just stop your car on the side of the road and look at the landscape, it looks significantly worse.

Which makes sense. The game is meant to be viewed in (preferrably fast) motion. So they're not going to spend hundreds of hours giving minute detail to the cobblestone sidewalks 30 meters away from the edge of the track when you're just going to zoom by it in 5 seconds.

    Wow...those are quite amazing.

I love the number of comments on Reddit commenting on the FFXIII one, lamenting that it would automatically be a better game.

I've actually never been a fan of the menu based combat games like the old school FF games, but hey, they have a large following, and Square changing horses a couple of games ago was...weird.

Hm, good point I suppose. I do believe the picture is older than I at first thought, but it's still a tremendous picture.

$15 for 3-hours of entertainment is a better deal than going out to see a movie and buying a snack. Plus, you own it and can revisit it. To do that with a film you'd have to sink another $20 on the DVD.
