Wow. The Lions got a haul of picks for him. Now the Cowboys have T.O. and DimeStore T.O.
Wow. Totally different that what was first reported. That's a heck of a deal for a guy who was dropping five balls a game in an effort to get shipped out of town.

EDIT: That sentence doesn't really make sense though. Is the 7th round pick supposed to be '10? Or are the others '10 and the 7th rounder '09? Bizarre wording if they're all for next year's draft.

Yeah, it's worded stupidly but I'm assuming they get 4 picks in the upcoming 09 draft. If I'm wrong I blame ESPN obviously.

Why would anyone drop Calvin Johnson?
    That answers my question. Gracias.

Now comes another question: Should I drop Matt Hasselbeck? I have a gut feeling that he'll bounce back from this bad start but I don't know.

You know, the same Cowboys fan friend I keep mentioning in this thread was happy about getting Roy Williams. I told him that Roy Williams really does suck. He replied back with "Look who was throwing to him." My response was "I actually talk to people online who have seen him play. They say he sucks. I agree." Seriously, the Cowboys gave up that much for Williams? I'd say that they are overreacting to Tony Romeo being injured for 4 weeks.

    Who's available?

I'd probably hold on to him.

Roy Williams averaged less than 70 yards a game in a Mike Martz offense. He's no superstar.

Jamarcus Russell, Joe Flacco, and Gus Frerotte are available. With those three available should I hold on to him?

I would. When he returns he'll have Engram and Branch back.

I'm not that desperate to sign Shaun Alexander in any of my fantasy leagues. The guy can't really have much left in the tank.

He'll be nothing more than a backup anyways. Why even consider it?

Exactly. I'm sure some will grab him regardless.

I had Shaun Alexander on my bench for weeks one and two, before he got signed, hoping someone would pick him up. Then I dropped him. Now my Skins pick him up? Why?

They felt the need to sign a veteran running back, saw he was available, and offered him a contract.

Well, yeah, but they didn't have anyone get injured recently did they? I haven't heard anything...

Ladell Betts is out. They needed a backup/"change of pace" back.

Which means that, as long as Portis and everyone else on the team can still, y'know, run - Alexander will be a definite change of pace.

This guy might be the all-time drop off in production and confidence king.

Ahhhhh. I had not heard that. This makes sense now. I do like Alexander, and was surprised it took so long for him to get picked up. The only real problem I have with him is...

    ...that.

Just to give you an idea of what you're getting, Shaun Alexander was probably the most disliked player on the Seahawks by Seattle fans the year he won MVP. People across the country saw the stats and the results of his tendency to "turn it on" for nationally televised games, but we saw a different player. Having a beastly tandem of Hutch/Walter Jones oblitering the opposing line and using Mack Strong as your personal shield can do a lot for your numbers - even when you drop to the ground every time someone breaths on you.

Anyway, he seems like a genuinely nice guy, and I do feel bad for the all the disdain that was lobbed at him during his last few years here. Plus, it's not like you're expecting anything at all out of him anyway. Still, the fact that he didn't get picked up until his friend and former colleague, Jim Zorn, tossed him a bone isn't surprising to me at all.

Yeah, I always found Alexander just about the most overrated running back in the league over the past ten years. He has no break tackle ability at all and once his speed went away, he had no use whatsoever.

He also couldn't catch at all. His blocking was non-existent. He was basically a complete non-factor in the passing game. The best I can say for him is that, in his prime, he could recognize a hole and get through it quickly.

My biggest shock with Alexander came when someone pointed out how often he backs into a tackler. It was incredibly true once I started watching for it, and it was one of the most pathetic things I'd seen on a football field without a Vick.

I don't get this Romo stuff. His throwing motion depends upon a healthy pinky and Brad Johnson seems perfectly acceptable back-up QB. There shouldn't even be a question of him playing.

Especially when you consider they're playing St. Louis this week. Victory of Washington or not, they aren't good, and Johnson is capable of leading the Cowboys past them and giving Romo an extra week to heal.

After using two straight first round picks on the guy, for once it's nice to have Steven Jackson on my fantasy team.

I don't know which of the Cowboys/Rams score or the Vikings/Bears score are more shocking.
