CDC made the weird announcement that vaccinated people don't have to wear masks outside if they aren't in crowds.

    Biden went around parading it.
Struck me as odd as well. I'm in the Bible belt and people around here never started wearing masks (missed the whole "love thy neighbor" memo). There was a brief period between around late September-early November that was then disregarded during the holidays. From what I understand, this was supposed to incentivize getting the vaccine, but if you're already not wearing a mask at all why in the world would you give a shit about the CDC saying it's okay to wear them outside if you're vaccinated? If this was meant to sweeten the deal for those who are against vaccination, I don't think it's a very compelling argument.

It makes sense to me in a vacuum. But to the point quido made, those people will never been convinced.

I for one will enjoy playing soccer next Tuesday without a mask. Getting my second shot this Friday.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I don't think people should have the option of being "against vaccination".

It should just be a legal requirement to be a citizen.

    How?

Other vaccines are required. Why should this be different?

Do you not potentially give up several privileges for your child if you refuse to have them vaccinated?

A lot of schools won't let them attend, many businesses won't let them shop there. You can't be in military, policing. Many government jobs.

Make up your mind. You said citizen, but now you're talking about going to school and government jobs.

My point is that being outside and physically distanced was already fine anyway, vaccinated or not.

Question is... what will "herd immunity" be considered? When 75% of the population is vaccinated? 80%? Is that what triggers the return of indoor events + masks off? Is there any discussion or ideas behind this? I haven't seen any.

West Virginia doing a $100 bond for folks to push for vaccination ... drastic but there’s unfortunately a lot of people who believe the 5G and other wrong-headed shit. Both of my brothers are in their early 30s and refuse to get vaccinated. There was a stat on the local NH news that said 45% of people in the state did not want to get a single shot.

Yeah, Colorado is 30% completely vaccinated but hitting a wall now as they believe 40-50% aren't interested in getting a shot.

Yet another huge win for corporate billionaires, and kick in the balls to their own employees.

In Ontario, frontline workers do not get even ONE day of paid sick leave.

Starvation wages, zero sick time, in most cases no benefits of any kind. And these workers have it worse in the US than here.

Enough is enough. This view that retail/service industry workers are scum and don't deserve basic living standards is not going to change until the people at the top start making changes.

Anyone who works 40+ hours a week should be able to afford basic living necessities. Full stop. And until that is reality, corporate heads need to stop giving themselves millions / billions in completely unearned bonuses.
I'm Jack's lack of complete surprise. Can't cut into the CEO wages clearly.

Too many counties in Iowa are refusing vaccine supplies last I heard. And our governor is a bloody idiot who is fine with sacrificing people for the economy.

Yeah, it's weird that they'd make such a fanfare about this. Most people weren't wearing masks outside already so it's not like this is some great gambit to convince more people to get vaccinated. North Carolina plans to lift our indoor mask mandate once 66% of adults get at least one shot. That's the only thing I've seen along the lines you're talking about. But many states lifted their mandates months ago, so who knows.

Are people actually being snooty about which vaccine they get? Or is it just internet silliness?

Feels like Internet silliness. But Pfizer or GTFO, please.

Every second meme I see lately has been about the Pfizer and Moderna people scoffing at Johnson & Johnson people.

Wondered if there was some actual quality difference between the two, or if it's the 2021 version of Apple vs Android.
