The sound quality isn't very good. I dont know when/if these dub selections will ever appear on any remastered CD (were the masters lost when Scratch burned his studio down?)

Fucking awesome is what it is.

    Love that picture.

I imagine there is a ton of reggae and dub music lost or in terrible condition because of poor storage conditions in those original "studios," studios that were little more than shacks with electricity run to them.

All the more reason to snag the great quality releases while you can (read: the true labors of love in terms of Jamaican reissues, and worth every single penny) from Motion Records, Pressure Sounds, and Blood and Fire. They won't be around forever! If not, you'll have to make do with Trojan, Heartbeat, et. al, not terrible options by any means, but still: get the soon to be out-of-print quality stuff while you still can.

I know it's ridiculous but I just discovered Tech-9. I'm listening to various tracks on youtube (Einstein is badass) and I need a CD recommendation for when I hit up the music store in Redmond tommorow.

I have been listening to so much Hawaiian pop music lately. Especially Hawaiian Style Band's Rhythm of the Ocean, which has been on repeat for the last couple days.

Yes. Yes, it is. I've just ordered their Vanishing Treasures album and am greatly looking forward to it.

Silver Apples - "A Pox On You"

Not sure why I waited so long to get to Contact, but it's unsurprisingly great. Not as awe-inspiring as their debut, though still light years ahead of its time. Love the use of the banjo on a couple tracks - it's probably the last instrument I'd imagine fitting into their sound.

"Save Me From What I Want" - St. Vincent

Unsurprisingly, I find this entire album divine. Possibly even better than the first. Certainly a more layered sound overall. Less catchy I suppose.

Haven't listened to this in a while... 18 was a good age. That Zach Braff guy's movie with Portman looks awesome.

    So sleazily grandiose.
Yeah, I've decided that the opener Melody [Extrait de Melody Nelson] may in fact be one of the greatest tracks ever.

    The Lovetones, "Something Good".

What is it about Australia that produces these amazing pop bands?
