Activison made about 10 of those games from the PS1 on and none were even remotely as polished or as fun as the Arkham games.

the first one for ps1 actually was a lot of fun, and nothing like arkham city. i think you're thinking of the first two spider-man movie games, which are exactly what e described. the swinging mechanic was fantastic, especially in the second, but the open world stuff got repetitive after a while

It did get repetitive, but it was the first of a kind for me, so it was a fantastic rental.

I've been playing a lot of Kerbal Space Program. It's a rocket science simulator - build rockets and send them to moons and planets. Very steep leaning curve - because after all - it's rocket science! Any engineers here should love it!

It's possibly the most challenging action/platformer on the PS2! I'm pretty sure they actually were responding to the first game's "too easy" criticisms when they were making it. Quoth a Weird Jerk I Like to Read:

Jak and Daxter was a weird little Banjo-Kazooie-like, which was itself a Super Mario 64-like. Jak and Daxter was the video game equivalent of a Saturday morning cartoon. Jak II was a cartoon they'd maybe play on Saturday afternoon at around two-thirty.

Jak II is the PlayStation 2.

It's got guns and cars and hover-bikes and a hovering skateboard that can grind up rails. It's got a massive, living, breathing city. It's got alternate French, German, Italian, Korean, and Japanese voice tracks. It's got hours upon hours of voice acting. It's got wacky writing. It's got a huge plot. The hover skateboard feels amazing—like Tony Hawk shaking hands with Sonic the Hedgehog before hugging Super Mario. One can't overestimate the involvement of Hirokazu Yasuhara, game and level designer of the original Sonic The Hedgehog games.

Again—this was a time when people were just starting to wonder what the "Citizen Kane" of games would look like. Here was the spark of a Saturday morning cartoon, captured sublimely, possessive of the size and scope and verve of a Final Fantasy and the virtuoso of a Super Mario, and though financially successful, oh, how it went critically un-screamed at.

With an enormous budget comes great gameplay variety, and so Jak II is home to some still-mind-rending action set-pieces.

You can get all three Jak games in one beautiful high-definition package for your PlayStation 3 for 20 darn dollars, man. Let me warn you, though: the game is crazy-harder than it looks like it'd be. You'll be a superhero by the time you're done.

Fun is absolutely the right word. There's some angst, some grit, but it felt like a cartoon come to life, exagerated yet engaging. 2nd Best "superhero" game ever made.

I'll definitely buy the second one in the coming months.

Some of the "detective" work in Batman: Arkham City is absolutely hilarious. "Let's try to find the secret entrance" says the caped crusader as he looks at a video involving an assassin from the league of shadows open the aforementioned hidden pathway and showing clearly where it is located. Hardcore stuff indeed. Lol, the rest is still brilliant, stupendously good. Can't wait to go deeper into it.

I tried getting into the second game without having played the first and I couldn't get a feel for it. Seemed chaotic.

I procured Jak 2 and played it a little. Seems okay so far.

Last of Us fanmade film

It's definitely fanmade, but it showcases the game's fighting scenarios well enough I guess. It's alright. Certainly not what you'd want if it were official, but for fanmade, it's well done enough.
