So what songs does GTA4 have? What I've read about the music was confusing.

While everyone else gets to play GTAIV, I've become a pro on PS2's MLB The Show '08.

Unlike Madden, where it's pointless for a good amount of the game if you're a Safety or a WR, this game simulates to every play that you're involved in. I'm a second baseman for the Baltimore Orioles. For some weird reason, they moved Brian Roberts over to SS.

But it's no GTA IV I imagine.

GTA hasn't revolutionized shit since GTA III. They just keep adding bigger landscapes and more petty shit to do between missions.
False. GTAIII had no voice acting from the main character. We really didn't care about him too much we were just doing things that people told us to do.

GTA Vice City was a step in the right direction. Give him a voice, a purpose, a personality, a reason to care about him, the ability to fly an apache helicopter...etc.

GTA San Andreas didn't add anything really new, except you could now swim in the water.

I never said it was revolutionary.

But it's the most fun I've had with a video game in a few years.

I'm having a blast with GTA IV, but in terms of pure fun, Ratchet & Clank:ToD kicks its ass all over the place.

The first gameplay footage of Dice's Parkour action game Mirror's Edge:

    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33585.html

The look is great, but as expected, the camera view might take some getting used to while the gameplay might end up being too linear.

I think Grand Theft Auto IV is a pretty crappy game in a pretty impressive package. The more detailed and life-like the world gets, the more jarring the hand-holding, stiflingly rote missions become. I'm talking about stuff like "Hold R2 to target the guy on the left to intimidate him...Hold R2 to target the guy in the middle to intimidate him...Shoot him in the leg." That shit just isn't acceptable. If this was Nintendo, people would be lamenting their terrible design philosophy, but since it's uh not Nintendo, they get a free pass.

BOTTOM LINE: GTAIV is "not the revolution; it's just another fucking videogame."
Far too harsh, but I know what you're saying although I've read zero reviews that labelled GTA IV as a revolution. After completing 20% of the game, I can only say that the missions have been fairly boring and rigid requiring very little creative input and improv. Yesterday I was ordered to kill Mikhail Faustin, but there's never a genuine question of duality. You have to do it for it to register towards your completion level. So I went to the Perestroika theater to take him out. Incredibly, as soon as I was inside, a cut scene followed that not only completely exposed me to this thugs, but for some reason Mikhail knew I was there to betray him and kill him! If that was my intention, would I simply walk up to him when he's surrounded by his thugs? How the hell could he know? Ah yes. Bad writing of course. There are times when I detest the cut scenes and wish the dialogue would just occur in real time. Anyway, there was zero planning needed on my behalf. The first time ended in failure and the target got away. Now, instead of meeting his cohort and my co-conspirator Dimitri again in the exact same spot for a retry, how about the rules of the game change? In other words, there's now a very pissed off Russian out there ready to take you out! Imagine exiting your apartment, unsure of whether that dude on the street is just a pedestrian or the Russian Mafia. Imagine the "wonderful" paranoia Niko could find himself in when he realizes he's got a bullseye painted on his back. That might have been closer to a revolution. Where the idea of failure actually enhances the game immeasurably.

Anyway, it's been rather uneventful so far and I feel a distressing need to piss cops off at random to get a genuine GTA fix.

Perhaps it's due to my generally underwhelmed reaction to "San Andreas" - sure, it was fun for a while, but it was the most problematic of all the entries in the series, and also had the most uninteresting story - but "GTA IV" has brought back that feeling of total gaming euphoria that I had during "Vice City".

I'm sorry so many are disappointed with it, because I couldn't be happier.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Picked up New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. The original Mario platformers remain some of my favorite games of all time, so I'm pleased to see how well Nintendo's captured the original spirit. And it's actually somewhat challenging! There's not enough of that.

After two weeks of having a DS, I own as many games for it as my Wii and GameCube combined. I've put the brakes on my spending (and didn't get into deb this time!), thank God, but it's netted me some stellar games.

I know I've been singing its praises non-stop, but I gotta say it: The World Ends With You is digital Jesus.

I'm loving TWEWY. I'm on day 3 with Joshua (level 46) and even though I've taken a little break to play some GTAIV, I think this is the best handheld game I've ever played (probably the second best Square game after Chrono Trigger ). I just love everything about it. And I also love how this game makes use of all the key features of the DS. It couldn't be made on any other system.

New Super Mario Bros. is one of the games I'll pick up when it gets lowered in price, but that will probably take a while since it still sells very well. The only game I'm sure of buying later this year for the DS is Bangai-O Spirits. I think the US release is somewhere in June.

My disconnect with the average gameplayer must be more than I thought.

I'm about six hours into GTAIV and pretty much the only word I can use to describe my feeling of it is "average". I've never been a GTA fan but I do love Bully one of Rockstar's other games and since even all the critics are giving it perfect scores I decided to give IV a chance. The graphics are boring, the controls are sluggish whether walking or driving and the missions are tedious. I'm gonna put a few more hours into it to see if my opinion changes but I really don't see it happening.

At least when everyone was in love with Gears of War and I didn't care for it that much I could at least realize that it wasn't really for me but I could see how other people could love it but with GTAIV i'm really drawing a blank.

I thought the visuals in Gears of War, although incredibly detailed, were pretty boring as well. They were just opportunities for taking cover, but evoked little. With GTA IV size is everything and Gears of War didn't even come close to it. It didn't have to I suppose because it was a more cinematic experience with lots of perfectly engineered, self-contained set pieces, but there was no feeling of freedom. It never felt as liberating although it certainly was very tense. I'm actually quite impressed with the scope of GTA IV. Amazed really with all the pedestrians roaming the streets and pavements, all doing their little routines. It really has little to do with actual gameplay, but it's there and enhances the experience no end. We agree on the missions so far. Creative input and improv seems non-existent. Sure, I can shoot that guy or run him over with a car, but one or the other, it doesn't matter. It's as easy or as difficult either way. Are you not impressed by the Euphoria engine? I think driving's really awesome!

Looks like Gears of War 1 to me. I'm guessing this isn't really Gears of War 2. It's Gears of War 1.5. If anything, the graphics won't be better, it will just get better frames.

I'm around 33% in GTAIV. And finally reach the 1st milestone in the Team Fortress 2 Medic pack.
