Thanks for the cool posting pics Meg. Are you at all aware of the position of those front speakers, what with them being so agonizinlgy close to the TV. I can't imagine this promoting the sound effects of a speaker setup.

EDIT: But I guess you have no 5.1 DD setup either so perhaps it doesn't matter.

Actually we do have a 5.1 set-up. There's a subwoofer underneath the TV, and two speakers behind the seats.

I know it's not the best set-up, but it's the best we can do with the location of the TV, and the number (and location) of power outlets in the basement.

Plus, we're moving in a year, so there's no point in re-wiring everything now. It'll be great in the new house.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

    It's funny....

I've been into audio my whole life - love listening to and making music - and yet I am totally not an audiophile. I've never had a 5.1 sound system, and I kind of doubt I ever will. I've never even owned a good stereo.

I do, however, want a pair of 5.1 headphones to mix audio. I'd like to start releasing my albums mixed in 5.1.

We did have our basement wired for 5.1, though, but mainly because it actually adds some value for resell.

Don't know why I've never really been into Hi-Fi audio.

Yes. But like Ezee said, buy them online.

Not really. I like HD TV shows to fill the whole screen. If the TV has a technology to make it so the unused portions of the screen are completely black and unnoticeable, then that might convince me.

I've never been bothered by black bars, but the possibility of burn-in is a concern. I don't watch nearly enough movies in that format to consider it.

I'd rather have black bars on the top and bottom than on the sides so no thanks.

So here's some quick pics of my setup. I'm in desperate need of new speakers so I'm hoping someone here can point me in a direction where I can grab 5 sets of speakers and a new center channel. You can't see the sub in the pics, but it's a 10incher, in the corner.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

The whole place is bare. It's starting to annoy me. I have one picture hung in the kitchen.

Now... about those speakers? What's everyone using? I'm using an old Cambridge Soundworks set that I got back in 1999.

I need a shorter center channel and a completely new sub. Buying my buddy's 7.1 unit in October. Can't wait to hear that thing boom.

Well I already have my own sub, so I'm really just looking for front center and left and right.

It would be a complete movie experience if I can upgrade my speakers.

I'm not an audiophile at all, and I doubt I ever will be. Stereo is great for me, so I'm not the one to ask.

It's weird, given the fact that I am a musician, composer, and producer, that I am so not into surround sound or hi-fi systems.

My TV speakers are too loud as it is for my living room, so I do not have a sound system at all.

For instance, my favorite theater in Seattle is the Grand Illusion. It seats about 50 people, in old uncomfortable seats, the screen is about 10', and the sound system is kind of old and usually scratchy.

I have a 7.1 receiver, couple tower yamahas up front, a big yamaha center channel, down firing sub that was barely used for years, and then small speakers in the back. I've had most the speakers for several years, so I don't remember the specs.

The receiver is great, except it has a tiny remote window, which is annoying.

One thing I do really like, because they are small, portable, and don't have a ton of wires hanging out everywhere, are those soundbars. If I were to ever get some kind of audio system, I'd probably get one of those.
