Damn, now I'm scared to watch 47 Meters (which I also blind-bought).
You know what movie is surprisingly great? The Shallows.
I enjoyed The Shallows. I knew every thing that was gonna happen in 47 Meters Down in 30 minutes and was pissed off when I was right
The Shallows is one of the few movies where the ending irritated me that I’ll watch repeatedly.

Does it have anything to do with Blake Lively's incredible...um...performance?Quoting Scar (view post)
I thought Crawl was actually really good.

I liked The Meg. The Shallows was awesome. I saw both in theaters.

John Saxon was legendary.
I liked him better in Dream Warriors and New Nightmare but yes he was a legend.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

The Meg is atrociously bad.

I thought the trailer looked dumb as hell and was surprised (actually shocked) when I enjoyed the movie. Oh its trash for sure, but at least its aware its trash and embraces it. I can enjoy that much more than trash that thinks it's actually good.Quoting transmogrifier (view post)
John Saxon acted with Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon.
John Saxon = Legend
Bruce Lee = ?????

Last night I watched the Canadian horror flick Pyewacket.
It got a lot of good press and generally decent reviews.
It's got something there. It's a fairly slow burn, which I always appreciate in horror. Especially when the payoff is as devastating and creepy as it is here.
The biggest problem was the dialogue, particularly between mother and daughter. I like Laurie Holden, but she felt a bit cartoonishly over the top here. The verbal fights between her and the daughter (the film's main character) don't ring true, as the words being spoken feel quite stilted as well as the performances being too hammy for the weight of the material.
There's lots of good stuff here, though. Lingering shots of autumn woods at dusk are inherently eerie. The back and forth of whether or not something supernatural is actually occurring was handled well. And the main young actress is quite good, aside from the aforementioned domestic arguments, which I attribute more to the shoddy writing than her acting.
It's a movie about angsty teenagers and the often irrational anger they harbour. If you are someone who has always found angsty goth teens to be insufferable, you may look at the movie in the same light and see nothing to connect with.
If you were a depressed "outsider" as a teen, you should check it out.
Nothing earth shattering, but worth seeing. Especially for that creepy ass ending.
VFW is gloriously violent and gory. I will definitely be subjecting Bac0n and the artist formerly known as Spun to this.
I legit cackled several times.

Ten bucks for 4K at Walmart. If it’s cheaper on bluray, buy that. It does not benefit from 4K.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
