I think theres this weird part of Hollywoods algorithm where "extreme facial scars" is a red flag. I've seen this enough to call it a trend. First two that pop to mind are The Drop and Dead Man Down (both starring Noomi Rapace), in which shes "scarred" on her face and neck. Both films, shes scarred sure, but she and other people act like shes the elephant man, when it's barely a thing. Not undercutting either characters damage, but literally the other characters act like "you're so strong that you havent killed yourself you monster".

It's weird and my only explanation is it must be a part of that Hollywood algorithm.

Reminded me of the video game Remember Me where the main character often talks about her disfigurement and the shame of her scarred face.

She has a tiny hairline scar above her upper lip, not even noticeable without being pointed out.

God I hate the internet these days, and the Gillette ad "controversy" is another perfect exhibit. So many people bitching and moaning, then others kvetching about the bitching and moaning, then others still whinging about the kvetching, and it just becomes like a brick in a dryer and no one's really talking about anything but how their view and opinion are the only ones that matter, obviously. Endless, maddening assumptions and misrepresentations and misunderstandings, screaming into the yawning, disinterested abyss. Fucking hell. K, there's my contribution--add it to the bonfire.

I've heard about it in the margins of the sites I hang around on, yet I have resisted the temptation to watch it or comment on it (until now. Damn you Wryan!). I find this is a good way to keep the blood pressure low and a spring in my step.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

In Canada the Tories are eliminating free college tuition for low income students.

Why is there such a war on poor people in North America?

Because it's an easy one to fight and rich people are great at making poor people feel like other poor people are their enemy and not the rich.

    Yep pretty much.

The proverbial “they” have the middle / lower-middle class so convinced that the poor are robbing them blind, that they can’t see the real enemies plain as day right in front of them.

An example of how much this absolutely destroys peoples’ futures:

A young woman who worked for me at a previous location, left to go back to school.

With government assistance, her 4 year university degree was going to cost her a total of $15,000 out of her own pocket.

With the removal of this assistance, she will now come out of 4 years of school with more than $80,000 in debt.

The workforce already has a deficit in skilled workers. I’m sure this will help, tons!!

I don't want to dismiss your contributions to the board out of hand, but that spoilered portion might very well be the best post you've ever made.

So last year at this time Ontario’s liberL government put into effect a few things to help low income families / service workers:

-$14 minimum wage, which would increase to $15 this year

-mandatory 2 days paid and 10 days unpaid sick leave in any workplace s

    -mandatory mat/pat leave

Since Doug Ford (Canada’s Trump) got elected and Ontario is now conservative...

-immediate freeze in the minimum wage

-elimination of any and all mandatory sick time (an employer can now fire you for sick calls)

-decrease in mat leave time and elimination of pat leave time

The war on poor people continues.

Love that my company does a 12 week maternity leave and a 6-week paternity leave, with an option of an extra 6 weeks.

It's genuinely hard to find a company in the Denver area that pays less than $12/hr at this point. And those positions are usually first-job positions.
