    Downloading RDR2 now...

    Quick question:

Is it possible to blow off the main quest & spend all my time hunting and fishing? Genuinely looking for maybe 25-30 hours of side game content here, complete with rare mobs, weapons, tools, and achievements.
You should do a live stream. I would watch the hell out of that.

Doing the story does help with the hunting though, because it frees up better weapons. I always head shot big game with a long-scope rifle, which you get after a certain mission in Chapter 2.

Well SOMEONE needs to do a live stream!

Ha, with three dogs running around, probably not.

Favorite hunting rifle: Bolt action, with scope and express ammunition (explosive for Legendary hunting).
Favorite combat rifle: Just keep getting the best lever action available.

Huh. I've actually never even considered putting a scope on the Bolt Action, which I never use. I just use the Rolling Block. Also, I'm clueless.

One of my annoyances with the game is that you can't discard weapons you don't ever use. I wind up with 15 weapons in my weapon wheel, maybe 5 of which I use on a regular basis.

I would like the rolling block faaaaar more if you can swap between open sights and scope, (I use a Ruger #1 falling block for deer hunting, very similar). Putting a scope on the bolt action and using express ammunition gives you just about the same amount of knock down that you get from the rolling block, but the quick target acquisition in case you kick something up that doesn't like you. I always switch back to open sights after using the scope.

In RDR1, once I got the Buffalo Rifle (single shot BEAST), I used it exclusively for hunting.

As I was installing RDR2, I told myself that I was going to start over. It auto loaded my 92% total completion game. I was like, “Well, I’ll just warm up with this save.” Four hours later, it was time to make dinner. Think I’ll work on the Bandit challenges and go from there.

    Started RDR2.

    Quick question:

How long before I can "accidentally" put a bullet in Dutch's head?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Holy shit. That looks like PC. Has the gap finally closed or is PC even further ahead? (I'm a full gen behind for the first time in my life)

Thing is - Xbox Series X and PS5 are essentially gaming PCs. Their architecture is very similar both between them and compared to PCs as well.

Hyper realism is a step towards true VR. It's where gaming was always headed.

Maybe --- but at that point, you're no longer playing a game.

You're in the holodeck having an orgy with Rita Hayworth and Commander Data.

I can watch real movies or shitty porn movies to get a, uhm, quick fix.

I can play an amazing VR game such as Half Life Alyx or I can resort to shitty porn variants.

Those two worlds are always going to be there.

HL:A isn't "true VR." Near as I can tell, it's a traditional 2-D game with a fancy interface.

I'm guessing a bit at ETM's meaning, but I don't think it fits in with what he was saying.

I'm saying gaming graphics have always aimed for the highest realism achievable, at least those whose gameplay benefits from it (no point making Monument Valley hyper realistic). The ultimate goal has always been virtual reality, not what we have today, but fully immersive realistic experiences. More The Oasis than Holodeck. In every generation, we percieve what's possible in computer graphics at that time as "realistic", but the goal post keeps moving forward. This will not stop, if anything because it's easier to offer gradually more realistic versions of previous games with incremental improvements to gameplay.

    Ya'll see this?

Looks utterly gorgeous. Makes me wish I had a PS sometimes, but perhaps it'll be ported at some point. I like that they have an option to play the whole game in B&W in honor of the samurai movies they love.

Looks great but the demonstrated gameplay is ... meh? Like, not a whole lot different than the action/adventure/RPGs I've been playing around with for the last month.

The wind thing is almost an interesting idea ... until you realize that you'll be doing it for hours on hours. Fighting looks fine but again not altogether different from the shit everybody else is doing or has done.

Also, serious lol at a buncha ex-microsofties doing a game set in feudal Japan after From & Sekiro.

Bitching aside, I still wanna keep my eye on it because this was demo'd last year during E3 and it looked cooler than this vid.
