Instructions:
Please take the time to listen to both themes and then cast your vote by making a post in this thread. Thread will be open a minimum of 24 hours and then may close any time after that at my discretion.
The primary focus in your decision making should be the music. However, voters are also encouraged to consider the effectiveness of the theme within the context of the show's opening titles (or however else the theme is used). That said, you should not simply vote for the best overall show, even if it is impossible to eliminate that factor entirely. Voters should keep an open mind to new themes they have not previously heard for shows they have never watched. We are looking for the best theme, not the theme from the most popular show.
Twin Peaks
First Round: Defeated The Adventures of Pete & Pete (21-0)
Second Round: Defeated Barney Miller (17-3)
Third Round: Defeated Rawhide (17-2)
Theme composed by: Angelo Badalamenti
Italian/American composer Angelo Badalamenti studied at the Eastman School of Music and Manhattan School of Music in New York, and began his career as a songwriter, composing pop songs with John Clifford under the name Andy Badale. Several of his collaborations with Clifford were subsequently recorded by jazz/soul legend Nina Simone, including "Another Spring", "He Ain't Comin' Home No More", and "I Hold No Grudge". Badalamenti entered the world of film music in 1986 when his friend, director David Lynch, asked him to act as actress Isabella Rossellini's vocal coach for her role in the film Blue Velvet. Lynch was so impressed with Badalamenti's work in arranging Rossellini's performance of "Mysteries of Love", he asked him to score the film as well. Since then, Badalamenti has struck up an enduring working relationship with Lynch that continues to this day, with the composer lending a jazzy, darkly ironic musical edge to Lynch's skewed filmic perception. Their collaborations to date include films such as Wild at Heart, Lost Highway, The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive, as well as the hugely popular Twin Peaks, arguably Badalamenti’s most famous work. Other scores over the years include A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Cousins, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Comfort of Strangers, The City of Lost Children, The Beach, Secretary, A Very Long Engagement, The Wicker Man (2006), and the theme to the popular Bravo TV series Inside the Actor's Studio. Away from the cinema, Badalamenti has written a number of classical and performance pieces, including Industrial Symphony #1 for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and is a popular and respected recording artist, having undertaken successful collaborations with (among others) Barry Adamson, Julee Cruise, Dolores O’Riordan, Jocelyn West, Tim Booth and Marianne Faithfull.

Third Round: Defeated Batman - The Animated Series (13-10)
Theme composed by: Morton Stevens
Morton Stevens was an American film score composer from Newark, New Jersey. He is best known for composing the theme tune for Hawaii Five-O, a television series for which he won two Emmy Awards (in 1970 and 1974), and was nominated seven other times for work on television programs including Gunsmoke and Police Woman. He studied composition at the Juilliard School, and became the arranger and later the musical director for such stars as Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Liza Minnelli. He was a music director for CBS and served on the board of governors of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He was the friend of composer Jerry Goldsmith and they worked together on many 1960’s shows: the horror anthology Thriller for Hubbell Robinson Productions at Revue Studios and three Arena productions in association with MGM (the medical drama Dr. Kildare, the espionage series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the WWII series Jericho). Meanwhile, he co-composed a single score for the first season of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea entitled: “The Human Computer”. In 1991, he died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 62.
