Awesome. You both must be pretty relieved.Quoting dreamdead (view post)
Definitely. After posting the last thought, I decided to check the AA flight calender and saw that her initial flight to O'Hare was canceled and was prepared to let fly several obscenities, but apparently she's now on a different flight and will be staying over at Newark Airport for the afternoon before catching a flight to Illinois, so at least we'll be able to have phone interaction once she lands in the US.Quoting Kurosawa Fan (view post)
Sigh.
The conference proved worth it academically for her (she should get an article on Shane Meadows's This is England published by the British Film Institute in the next year or so), so that's the only saving grace in all of this mess.

I believe I got my sister a few books. That, for the life of me, I cannot remember which books annoys me. I will have to call her today.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

The severed arm perfectly acquitted itself, because of the simplicity of its wishes and its total lack of doubt.
DD that is BADASS.
Hell yeah! I'd play that game.

I've always thought a badass animated Mario movie could happen (and I want to be the one to make it), and that pic could certainly be the basis.
My parents have been really cool about Facebook - they actively avoid registering to the site. They say they'd rather leave my siblings and me to it, since we probably are communicating more with peers than family.Quoting Spun Lepton (view post)
They're probably still watching us, though.

Thanks for the well wishes from everyone re: thefourthwall's situation in England. She got back safe and sound last night around 11ish, and though sleeping and napping like mad (since the last minute ordeal of flying into JFK airport and waiting there while Chicago weather sucked it up midafternoon yesterday) from a 25 hour awake marathon, is finally back beside me. All of which, indeed, underscores how happy I am to have her back.

Do any of you ever feel hung over from bad dreams? I had nightmares all night and I'm totally spacing out now at work. I got on an elevator and stood there as the door closed, leaning against the wall, for several minutes without remembering to press a floor key or without particularly noticing that it wasn't going anywhere. I got lost on the second floor of our building. (Literally lost. Standing there going, "Where am I?") I'm being confused by things like telephone handsets and alphabetized files.
I'm not even sleepy, I just feel like someone replaced my brain with cotton.

Just had a quick, informal business brunch at Friendly's, and saw this on the breakfast menu:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but "prepared like French toast" means dipped in egg and fried, right? This is a cinnamon roll, dipped in egg and fried, with sweetened cream cheese, ice cream, caramel and ice cream.... for breakfast.
My mind? Blown.
