I had trouble getting through some scenes.
90 minutes in, and I can see that. And I'm sure I ain't seen nothing yet.

Fabulous graphics though, tremendous world-building. When [
], it felt astonishing too. Like it was similar to Uhura and Kirk smooching back in the 60's. Perhaps I'm making too big of a deal about it, but that's what came to mind. Arriving in Seatle now, the road ahead is long.

Fuck it, ordered Control as well.

Amazon.ca is saying they aren't going to have stock of PS5's available outside of fulfilling pre-orders until April/May.

    Fucking ridiculous.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

And the winter steam sale has begun... Ugh. As if Cyberpunk wasn't enough, Outter Worlds and No Man's Sky both on sale.

Ni No Kuni 2 85% off at $9.59

Stalker anything on sale you had suggested for the DukeTV night?

    Rage 2 $17

    Fallout 76 down to $13

Outer Worlds is a game I really wanna play at some point. Has anybody here played it? Thoughts?

I hem and haw over it when I see it on sale. When I finally think I’m going to buy it, the sale is over.

It's fine. It's the Toyota Camry of videogames, the meal you always order at the local chain your kids like. Serviceable but forgettable. If you've played other Obsidian games (New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, etc) and liked them, you'll probably like this. Steam has it for $30 on sale and that's also fine. I wouldn't pay more.

Nobody here will out and out hate it but nobody will love it either. It's the sorta RPG with a standard character creation screen (lotsa sliders and colors), and the skill trees have options like Minimum Armor Penetration Damage +10% and +30% Armor Rating for 5s after every Dodge. There's also a crafting system allowing you to repair and upgrade your gear. It's more stuff like Magazine size increased by 50% and Shocks enemies that strike you in melee range.

The NPC interactions are straight out of Bioware dialogue wheels and the NPCs themselves all look vaguely similar and stare at you without blinking. The followers you can recruit are similarly typical: dashes of personality mixed with a deeply stupid AI. Meaning, they'll block you in doorways and run out into the open during combat.

Which is fine, really, because all of that is more or less the norm. Every element you'd expect from a contemporary RPG is here. That was also my main beef with it. I'd seen this stuff before, in other games, and played with similar systems for 100s of hours already. The game feels competent but uninspired.

One major caveat: It's fairly short. Like, I'm pretty sure Duke or Ezee could beat this thing in a long weekend.

Anybody play the first chapter/act/whatever of the FFVII remake?

Could still be a joke, but KFC is about to launch a gaming console. Albeit one that has the innards of a PC.

I bought it, so if I ever finish Cyberpunk, that's next on my list. After Dark Souls of course.

Thanks for the comments, Irish. As often as I play games these days, its shortish length sounds about perfect. Are there side missions and other things to explore on the various planets?

KFC releasing a gaming console capable of 4K and 240fps.

Best part? It has a hollow center that uses the heat of console's hardware to keep your KFC chicken warm.

Guys guys! I bought couple games! PS3: Star Trek (based on reboot movie, I've been watching entirely too much Star Trek lately lol), 360: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. I dont know one single thing about this game, but we just went through the new transfers of LotR and it was cheap so I'll check it out.

Okay.. so uh any tips for fighting dragons? I'm level 10 and just got chomped in a random (?) event.
When I was lower in the levels and not ludicrously overpowered, what I found worked for me was having a full quiver of arrows at the ready and something to hide behind. Seemed that, even on the plains to the west of Whiterun, there was at least a cave to duck into or a tree to hide behind when the dragon decided to breath fire.

Then it became a simple matter of shooting an arrow, ticking off a bit of health, hiding behind a rock, rinse/repeat until the thing is dead.

    HTH!

I suddenly remember when I first thought my guy was powerful. I picked a fight with a giant. Yeah.... Don’t do that.

If you get hit with a fireball, just pause the game and eat 35 potatoes like everyone else.

Good advice, but it doesn't help against arrows to the knees.

Curious to read your thoughts also re7 vr.

As for me jumping to vr, only half life alyx can do it, so setting hopes on psvr2.

    There's a PSVR2 coming?

I thought PS5 supported the PSVR.

Last couple years at my parents for christmas, instead of buying gifts for all the adults, they came up with this game. We all buy gift cards (20-25$) for places then do white elephant swap/steal rules. Side game is to see who can come up with the most sought after gift card. This year I found a Playstation Network card.

Of all the people coming to our gathering this year, I'm the ONLY person with a Playstation.

My wife said this is the most Dwight Shrute-y thing I've ever done. Merry Christmas to me, mother fuckers
