    2025 Viewing Thread

Since there's no new forum for 2025, here's the thread for 2025 cinema. No polls, no posters, no gods, no masters, just movies.

    It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Now the workers have struck for fame
    'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns

    So far:

    1. Companion-more sci-fi satire comedy than horror movie, loved the final shot. Sophie Thatcher rules.
    2. Heart Eyes-rom com slasher movie for Valentine's Day, fun but the last act has some issues.

    3. CA: Brave New World-I liked this one, but it has final act issues and it feels a bit of a step back for the franchise. Some good action scenes, at least, and a few solid emotional moments.

    4. Paddington 3-Very funny, not as good as the first two, still pretty rad. I'll go see films in the series until they stop making them.

    5. The Monkey-Gory, bleakly hilarious, there's some meaningful bits about death in there somewhere but you don't watch the movie for that. You tune in for holy shit moments of mayhem and carnage. Have too many of us myself included become too numb to such horrors, or is it a reflection of the current era where Nazi douchebags have taken over everything? I donno, I'm just hanging out on a dead website.

    6. The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie-Sure it was made in 2024, but the release date ended up being 2025, so it counts. Anyways this movie ruled so much, from the hilarious use of Bryan Adams to numerous references to other, also great, sci-fi and horror movies. Making this mostly a Daffy and Porky movie was the correct move, and the film's maniac pace works oh so well. See in an empty theater, which made me sad, I guess either my local cheap theater is slowly fading away or streaming has ruined everything. Oh well.

    7. Novocaine-I may have loved this one more than a lot of people, but Jack Quaid is the major reason a plot based on such a ridiculous premise even works to begin with. I can't wait to hear people wish they had seen this in theaters after they view it on streaming later, and I'll just sigh cause I supported it on the big screen. Oh and I totally understand why he did it all for Amber Midthunder, who is even better here than she was in Prey.
