I'm mid-season 1 and enjoying it but generally find it hard to get invested because I find "the crown" to be irrelevant in literally every way. I think part of point of the show is to highlight the futility of the institution hanging on to centuries-old tradition in modern time, but there's still a sincerity to its reverence and when the Zimmer score swells at what are very non-dramatic moments I'm just like, eh, get over yourselves.

Weird to see the hubbub on the show over royalty having romantic involvements with divorcees while I'm actively hearing about the engagement of Harry and Meghan Markle.

I think the balance reverence vs. Irreverence was perfect Amberlita.

I don't think it's weird at all as the show makes it clear on key occassions how necessary it is for the Monarchy to not stay rooted in the past and evolve with the times. If you mean weird in the sense that you are yourself aware of how times have changed then I agree.

I find season 1 more cohesive (as it's almost purely about the queen transition, with a Churchill parallel), but overall I think season 2 is better. Season 2 Episode 6 (eerily, relevantly about Nazism and the limit of forgiveness) might be the best of the whole show.

Netflix Japan releases the full trailer for Season 3. (Also, even though it's out of late time for 1 & 2, I like the idea of coupling two seasons of the same cast together like this thread)
