But if people have familiarity with that movie or the series or whatever that marketing is even more effective and likely to drive them to theaters.
The fucked up thing is that this'll work even if people haven't used the product before. They'll trust a brand because they've heard of it, even if they can't remember where. (This is why companies with dominant market share, like Coca-Cola and Budweiser, continue to make huge ad buys every year.)

And Budweiser is one of the worst beers in the world. Bud Light is like vegan piss or something like that.

Piss is, by its very nature, not vegan. Unless it's carrot piss, which is delicious.

Is it not Bud Light? Because whatever is Not Bud Light, in any case, I'll take.

    You dreamed it.

    The Mummy (2017)
    Untitled Wolf Man film (2018)
    Untitled Van Helsing film (TBA)
Untitled Creature from the Black Lagoon film (TBA)
Untitled Bride of Frankenstein film (TBA)
    Untitled Frankenstein's monster film (TBA)
    Untitled Invisible Man film (TBA)

Luke Evans as Vlad "The Impaler" III Țepeș / Dracula
    Sofia Boutella as The Mummy
Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll
Johnny Depp as Dr. Jack Griffin / The Invisible Man
    Javier Bardem as Frankenstein's monster
Angelina Jolie as Bride of Frankenstein
    TBD Wolfman
    TBD Van Helsing
    TBD Creature
    TBD Dracula
So it looks like Universal didn't even have these movies planned out from a release standpoint.

Bride of Frankenstein appears to be next and they want the guy who directed Beauty and the Beast

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I'd still rather have those than Bud Light. BL makes me feel ill after half a bottle.

I guess Dracula Untold being the launching pad is being downplayed and The Mummy will be the true start of the shared universe.

So the real movie list is:

    The Mummy (2017)
    Untitled Invisible Man film (TBA)
    Untitled Wolf Man film (TBA)
    Untitled Van Helsing film (TBA)
Untitled Creature from the Black Lagoon film (TBA)
Untitled Bride of Frankenstein film (TBA) with no standalone Frankenstein's monster film.

Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe , Javier Bardem, Johnny Depp are all still attached.

    http://collider.com/van-helsing-remake/
Javier Bardem in talks to the play Frankenstein's Monster. Which I feel he's already playing the same role in the latest Pirates film.

So the cast photo they just released for this "Dark Universe" would lead one to believe that Cruise's role will extend past The Mummy.

If they can get their solo movies off the ground, there will likely be an "Avengers" type of team up movie against the monsters. So yes.

I just wondered if he is going to be the Van Helsing type of character and go up against all the monsters. That maybe this is more Cruise's new franchise than anyone else.

Also, is there official word on whether or not Luke Evans' Dracula will be back? Is it being recast? Or are we just moving forward without Dracula at this point?

I remember hearing something about how Dracula was to be recast; they're basically ignoring "Untold" completely. (I think it's a shame because there was a good movie buried underneath the CGI, and I enjoyed Evans in that role.)

Same on both points. Evans carried it well, and I thought it was better than the sum of its parts.

Heck, even my folks enjoyed it.

Evans has been on record saying he'd return if they asked him. Unclear at the moment. Even if they were to ignore that movie and just recast Evans, that would be fine.

We are all assuming these movies are going to make money though. The Mummy is looking real mediocre from what i've seen. Hard to make a scary PG-13 MONSTER movie and add the budget you want to get this shared universe going.

Think about it for a moment. What are the scariest PG-13 movies you've ever seen? Go!

One of the scariest movies I've ever seen is rated G (The Haunting).

I don't think the rating is going to cripple the franchise, it's insistence on making them "big" movies with massive budgets (and of course the expectation of massive returns).

They should make these modest $20-million movies. That's almost a surefire guarantee of return on investment. Horror sells. Not like The Avengers, but horror movies reliably perform at the box office especially when made with meager budgets.

The other thing that's weird is the production schedule.

Bill Condon will direct Bride of Frankenstein, to be released in February 14, 2019.

Are they really going to space out these movies 2 years apart? Or were they waiting for the first bits of tracking data on The Mummy before they announced this?

A lot of people seem to be frightened of The Ring, which was PG-13.

I remember being genuinely frightened when I watched The Haunting (1963) the first time as a teenager. That bit with the low voices and the hand in particular.
