I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I think we are ignoring the elephant in the room... Daddario is not even that hot. And as a side note, she's a terrible, terrible actress.

Daddario is fucking gorgeous. That she's not a very good actress is why she's doing a goddamn Baywatch movie.

I really love it when a guy says, "Hey, try to be considerate to women and not flaunt your tendency to objectify women" and then all dude-bros go "Fuck you man, I love tits and ass and obviously it's OK because Hollywood made this movie for us to that very thing. YAY!" followed by incessant macho high-fiving over how united you are and how that makes you right because more men agree that nice tits are awesome. I know you like great tits. I do too. I particularly like Daddario's tits. I have straight gawked at her tits. I just don't fucking celebrate that shit.

I would encourage you to not do that. I realize I'm fighting a losing battle, but this sort of thing happens around here in its various permutations all the time - no point trying to erase this one just because it is more overt than usual. MC seems to think it's enlightened on these sorts of things but apparently the majority of the forum congregation thinks normalization of gross behavior makes it less gross. That's lack of self-awareness ought not to be hidden.

I'm very disappointed that Pamela Anderson won't be in it. This was supposed to be her Oscar-winning performance!

I wasn't planning to. I was just stating my desire. I'm taking a page out of duke's book and leaving it up for future embarrassments.

Because women don't do the exact same thing all the time in regards to the guys they find hot, right? In fact, your generalized "dude bro" comment alone in regards to this thread is arguably just as sexist as any example of sexism you provided in your post.

Edit: And in regards to your second post, there are women on this forum who have, in fact, done this exact same "dude bro" thing, fawning over hot celebrity males, but I don't see anyone jumping on their backs and calling them gross. The examples in this thread aren't gross, they're fucking harmless.

I hope my declaration of this thread being silly wasn't construed as "yay tits and ass!" or so-called "macho high fiving".

I'm not endorsing the gawking I'm saying the entire thread is a little silly.

I think the idea that in 2016 we have Baywatch being resurrected and they couldn't find a more original angle than "look at these hot people's bodies!" is kinda weird.

I just st the same time think people on MC have become significantly less friendly of late, and the "holier than thou" attitude seems to permeate the place.

I don't agree with the movie and it's objectification of women (and it could be argued of men too...I don't think Zac Efron's body is there for his thespianism), but people can be real jerks to each other around here.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

Let's consider the subtext of this thread through an overview of its posts:

    Guy1 - “Yay tits!”
    Guy2-“Hooters!”
Dissenter- “Hey, I get that we ogle women’s bodies, but maybe we can avoid putting it on display and collectively celebrating it considering there are women who post here and may not appreciate it.”
Guy1- “Stop being a kill joy! They do it too. Women objectify men so that means it’s OK to objectify them.” (I’m afraid to derive subtext here because it lends to the conclusion that if women want to avoid skeezy male behavior then they have to be saints first; scarily regressive so let’s just move on)
Guy2-“Right! Context is everything. It’s a Baywatch movie; the whole point is to look at hot bodies. We are justified.”
Guy1-“Yeah get off your high horses.”
Guy2-“And Daddario isn’t even that hot.”
Guy1-“Naw man she’s gorgeous. She’s just a shit actress. That’s why she’s in a Baywatch movie and not next year’s Oscar bait.”

How the conversation might have proceeded if you’d noted the issue.....

Guy2-“True. Kinda glad they dispensed with bothering to ask her to act and just put her true assets on display.”
Guy1-“Whoa...think this is problematic at all?”
Guy2-“What? That we’ve reduced Daddario’s worth on screen to the state of her body and are only bothering to post about this movie’s existence because Hollywood recognized a collective need for men to stop having to be bothered with eyeing her breasts through cotton tshirts and supplied us with her in nipple-revealing wet spandex?....”
Guy1-“Yeah. I mean, I’m still attracted to her body, but maybe I’ll avoid flaunting my ability to objectify this woman because it only codifies this male behavior if we normalize it.”
    Guy2-“FUCK THAT LET’S DOUBLE DOWN!!”
Guy1-“No, man. Let’s discuss the problematic societal tendencies inherent in this movie’s existence. Let’s not applaud Hollywood but say, wtf, Hollywood, you aren’t making it any easier to navigate male/female dynamics in this world by feeding us this crap.”
Guy2-“Yeah. Yeah! And let’s talk about how much men suffer from sexism.”
    Guy1-*facepalm*

No, there is not the equivalent of this thread occurring amongst the, oh, two women who regularly read this forum, one of whom is Mormon. Yes, I am personally depraved, in the privacy of my home and head. But I didn’t start the Baywatch thread celebrating my chance to see Joe Sixpack in a thong and subsequently try to shame those who took offense with claims of haughtiness and hypocrisy, justifying the behavior simply because it is common. That you fail to see the problematic nature of this is sad but not surprising – you’re used to having your male gaze catered to. That you declare the behavior harmless is terrifying, because, seriously, women have NO shot at reversing this trend.

Whoa whoa whoa. Again my "high horses" comment has to do with how combative things seemed to get here. I'm not on the "hooray for tits!" side.

Everything just seems to go from "friendly banter" to "flame war" very quickly on MC lately. That's what I take issue with.

This is precisely my problem entirely. This thread started out as silly and harmless, and quickly degenerated into needlessly blowing things out of proportion and calling people gross for really no reason at all. I would think we would be familiar enough with one another to realize we're not your stereotypical "dude bros" just oogling at the ladies, thinking of them as nothing more than set dressing. And yet here we are, we can't even crack fun and have an innocent little joke based on Morris' celebrity crush that he's been known to bring up from time to time here and there. If that's how it's gonna be, I'm set to reference this thread every time someone makes any kind of comment focusing on an actor or actress' looks, because that shit would be just as fucking ridiculous as this thread quickly became.

Sure, I may also be at blame for getting heated in this thread, but this is seriously the most ridiculously and pointlessly blown out of proportion example of such an issue I've seen in some time, to the point where it honestly feels like some of us are purposefully seeking to be offended. Come on, we fucking know each other better than this, and there was no reason for any of that drama to even have been instigated in the first place on page one, let alone where it's come to now. For fuck's sake...

Just because you haven't seen it yourself doesn't mean it hasn't also happened. But don't sit there and tell me it hasn't when, I assure you, it oh most certainly has. And believe you me, it was just as silly and harmless in that scenario, too, and anyone who jumped on their back would have looked just as ridiculous as the one's jumping on Morris' and others backs in this thread, too.

Edit: Also, to clarify, since you seem to be taking my posts as my defending actual acts of sexism, I can assure you that, were this thread serious and the one's posting here were those actual "dude bro" types who merely objectify women, then sure, I would totally be on your side. The point being, the posts in this particular thread were not intended to be serious in that regard, and that is why they're "silly" and "harmless", so you can stop with trying to act like I'm some sort of fucking monster. I'm totally on board with battling against actual examples of sexism, and have actively gone to bat fighting the good fight on many occasions on social media and other forums, most notably when that fucking gamer gate bullshit was going down last year. But when a joke is a joke, and you know it's a joke, as was the case with this thread, then that's when you really need to learn when to just lighten up a little and not take everything so seriously.

So I can think that she's got a great body, but I can't declare it in public spaces? I don't understand this. What is wrong with celebrating the hotness of women? Is it because we're automatically assuming that celebrating their hotness means we don't care about everything else? That's tricky because that's an assumption. I like my women to be smart, intelligent, funny, but also good-looking. I believe Daddario may have all of those covered, but that's an assumption also. I don't even think she's a bad actress, but possibly a limited one. She's charismatic and she holds my attention, like she did in San Andreas and not only because of her body.

You know, my girlfriend and I (now my ex-girlfriend, but still friends) used to have some minor arguments back in the day because I called her sweet and smart, but oh so rarely good looking and hot. Isn't there a chance some women want to hear they're sexy and good-looking? Although I admit they probably don't wanna hear it from something called match-cut and certainly not in the manner in which I have worded my thread title. But who knows, perhaps they would have found it mildly amusing rather than offensive. I also agree Match cut wouldn't be match-cut if every other thread showed the rampant immaturity that I have decided to let slip out of my grubby, sweaty little fingers and for that I'm thankful.

I will refrain from creating such thread titles in the future. It's not worth it to rile folks up over it.

Take it from the black sheep of the group when it comes to MC arguments; The boob topic is hardly anything be upset about. Just be lucky Morris didn't post anything relating to feminism, politics, hipsters, or the worst thing someone on MC could ever post.... ever:

    [
    ]

Then we would be in a world of shit. I've literally blocked people on MC because of their response to me posting these videos. Talk about high horses? We're talking about youtube videos here.
