Yeah, both will be retreads I imagine. Hopefully one will present something new. To me, that would be Fallout 4.

But this is all hypothetical really.

I'm looking forward more to The Forest, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and Until Dawn (which got very bad initial playthroughs).

Apparently Doom 4 is going to be more like the old Doom than 3 - many , many enemies at once, a bazillion different crazy weapons, huge bosses, etc.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

That was announced back in 2007, when it was actually called "Doom 4".

It's been completely remade since then as evidence by the video I posted above.

It's re-branded as "Doom" and we have no idea what it looks like other than that quick 5 second video... which looks similar to Doom 3.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Any info on Fallout 4 at all?

I hope it has SOMETHING beyond a retread of Fallout 3 in a different setting. I'd definitely play it, but could see myself getting bored quickly since I set about 100+ hours into 3/New Vegas already.

No, read a recent interview where they said the game is still going to be the lots-of-enemies-and-guns style.

They specifically said, actually, that it will be nothing like Doom 3.

After successfully rebooting Wolfenstien, a Doom reboot seemed inevitable. I'll certainly play it.

I got to the first main area of The Witcher 3 last night.

Zoomed out on the world map...good lord.

This is one area, of 3 or 4 I think, and it is almost the size of Skyrim.

    One area.

I was riding my horse around, just enjoying the surroundings, when a huge of gust of wind billowed in, and all the trees and foliage around my rustled and started swaying. Next, the beautiful bright and sunny sky started to darken, and I looked up and saw some ominous clouds coming in. The soft yellow-orange light turned a gloomy blue, and it started pouring rain. I rode quickly into a village, and noticed that the villagers were all running into their houses, or were taking shelter under structures, and many of them seemed to be staring at the sky looking at the rain, wondering if it was going to stop, or cause any more damage to their already dilapidated surroundings.

This is a living, breathing world of the likes I've never experienced in a game.

It's all the promise of Red Dead and Skyrim, combined into an amazing package in which everything works as promised.

I even got my first shave, and two days later my stubble appeared. Going to see how long my beard can get.

Witcher 3 is probably the first game where performance (PS4) is seriously inhibiting my enjoyment. I've noticed it in other games and it never really bothers me much, but this game kind of runs like shit right now.

Still fun though. Just beat the griffin. Jury's still out overall.

Huh. Outisde of cut scenes, it's running really well for me.

Cut scenes are a bit of a mess, though.

Maybe I just have lower standards than you when it comes to performance and graphics. So long as it's not hampering the mechanics, I can put up with a lot.

    Are you digital or physical?

  11. #24836
Physical, and that motherfucker was noisy as hell for the first hour of play or so. The game would literally freeze along with the disc, then fast forward to where it would've been had nothing happened. I also crashed once to main PS screen.

I don't usually care about poor frame rates because most games (like souls, for instance) have problems during specific events or locations. They're somewhat predictable or expected. Witcher 3 is completely random and almost constant. Never game-breaking stuff, but often enough that I never forget about it.

Like I said, I've never been bothered by the "issues" in the souls games, Skyrim, Fallout, etc. Theirs were bugs/issues that made me roll my eyes or even laugh, but for some reason I'm less forgiving with the Witcher 3.

I hear people who buy physical media having problems all the time on the PS4.

I only buy digital, and rarely have the problems.

Never had any freezing, or crashes in about 8 hours, and frame rate seems to be consistently around 24-30.

If I had the internet capability I would go solely digital.

That being said I've never had any issues with physical discs on the PS4.

Had a multitude with the PS3, though.

Yeah, I have the patch. Like I said, it's not game-breaking or anything but it seems at this point to be pretty constant. Maybe it'll get better or I'll get used to it.

After playing only a few hours it really does seem too premature to give an opinion, but here are a couple things:

-- The naked scene was stupid, like something a highschooler would make. They're/she's naked--we get it already. Mature handling of sexual themes my ass.
-- Aside from the main character, the voice acting is terrific so far.
-- I'm playing on the third hardest of four difficulties, and it's fucking hard. Or maybe I'm just not used to it yet. Griffin went down pretty easy though.
-- Undecided on the economy at this point. I love how hard crowns are to come by, but there are soooo many crafting items and stuff.... We'll see if it all comes together.
-- I would like to make an alchemy build because it seems pretty unique, but it doesn't really seem viable at this point. A bit more effort than it's worth.

The voice acting is incredible. So good. And there is so much of it.

Is the story interesting or just typical cut and paste fantasy BS?

I'm finding it very interesting, in that it's not a chosen-one, save the world story.

It's comprised of lots of small, personal character interactions, with a more complex political and magical threat woven in.

Your main quest is to try to find your adopted daughter who has gone missing, and who is being hunted down, for some reason, by a group called The Wild Hunt.

The world itself is very bleak, and down trodden, so a lot of the side quests have twisted little spins to their outcomes that sometimes make you wish you hadn't completed them in the way you did.

Also, the side quests almost always feed back into other side quests, and the main story, and I've read multiple accounts of people saying that a little side quest they did impacted a much bigger story dozens of hours later.

It has more of a Western feel than a fantasy feel. It feels like a Western or Samurai story set in a fantasy setting.

Just started playing Witcher 3. Mine is a digital download and I can confirm there have been a few broken frames during cutscenes. So far, I'm not a fan of the dialogue. Add into that a clunky lead voice actor and it sounds like a 13-year-old's idea of drama.

Yes, absolutely. So far, and it's early to say this for certain, I'm a little put off by a lack of mature sensibilities, but we'll see where it goes.

The dialogue system is inspired. Still getting the hang of combat.

I picked up the Halo: Master Chief Collection for under $20. I've never played any Halo games so I figured I'd check it out. Made it about 4 levels in and realized it wasn't for me. I wasn't getting even the slightest bit of enjoyment out of it.

Second naked scene was no better. ("Herbalist" in the woods.)

Loved the baby quest with the Bloody Baron, though. Definitely my favorite mission series so far. The writing and tone were really solid--haunting, really. I'm also really digging Gwent.

About 20 hours into the Wither. Incredible game. The quests just keep getting better and better. The Botchling quest, and the old crones in the woods quest have both been awesome.

The writing is weird. Much of the dialog itself is rather stilted, and far too on the nose, far too often, but every once in a while a shining moment of pathos and humanity surfaces and totally makes me forget about the poorly written parts.

I'm finally getting into the rhythm of combat, and have still only really explored a super small fraction of a fraction of the world. The scope of this game is truly epic.
