I wasn't sold beer because the passport I was using as ID (I lost my wallet), was recently expired. How does that make any sense? An outrage, I say.
Bribe some of age kid to buy it with the promise that you will give him one bottle and a shinny nickel.

To be fair to the employee it is the law that it has to be a valid ID and a expired passport, drivers license, etc does not count. Selling alcohol to someone without a valid id can get them fined or fired and they have no way to know if they are being audited or not.

Seriously? The ID is not actual currency. The only reason they need it is to see if you're of age.

Even if it's the store's policy, I still would have told someone to go fuck themselves.

It's a really stupid law. How does an expired ID suddenly make you not of age? Your birthday is still the same. I went to a bar on my 36th birthday, and they wouldn't serve me because my license expired the day before and I hadn't received my new one in the mail yet. So fucking stupid.

But then again, the 21 year old drinking age in many states in the US is also really stupid. Just think about this: in some states, you can legally purchase a gun before you can legally purchase alcohol. In most states you can join the army and be sent to fight in a war before you can legally drink a beer.

I know a lot of friends who used their older brother's expired licenses to buy beer, so it makes sense to me.

No matter what your opinion on the law is, an expired id is not a valid form of id for anything. It is as useless as handing someone a blank piece of paper. The cashier is just following the rules as not to get in trouble or possibly lose their job. If telling a low wage cashier to go fuck themselves makes you feel cool then go for it.

    This.

I never felt sorry about denying service to someone without a valid ID. Not risking my job for you.

They'd already told you that by not serving you the beer.

Did this myself a couple months back. Chrome was not only glitchy, but bogged down my machine like crazy. Since the switch, my laptop runs so much smoother.

Weird how my experience has been the exact opposite. Firefox is so 2003.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

My biggest problem with Chrome was on my phone and iPad, where it constantly (constantly!) returned "This site is unsafe" error messages for my bookmarked sites the first time I clicked on them, making you go back to where you were, and if you tried the second time, it would let you through as if nothing had happened. I'm sure it has something to do with weak wifi signals or something causing a default response, but other browsers I have tried don't do that crap.

It would also sometimes, seemingly at random, reload tabs every time you switched to them, slowly down the browsing process to a crawl.

And then today, something went wrong with Shockwave on the laptop, and Chrome slowed to a crawl. Opened up IE, which I never use, and it worked like a charm.

Goodbye Chrome. Hello to something that actually lets me read websites.

Ok, cursing at an employee for following the rules someone forces him to follow is unfair for him.

But it's still a stupid interpretation of the law - an expired ID does its job, you're not getting any younger. Maybe I'm just not used to the whole ID thing. The couple of times I was in the states it always surprised me how they would card everyone who wasn't obviously an old man with a grey beard.

Same experience. Chrome would take forever to launch, and when it was running my computer would freeze for about 30 seconds to 2 full goddamn minutes about twice an hour. Soon afterward, I went back to Firefox.

The only time Chrome messes up for me is sometimes loading sites, it'll freeze for a little bit. Everything else has been tip-top since I first installed it (laptop).

I was having some minor issues with Chrome loading pages once. I had to use Firefox while I was fixing it. It felt so antiquated.

My problems with Chrome started from Day 1. And it was small annoyances, like not being to edit my posts on Match Cut for some reason (the edit window would come up, but the Submit buttons simply didn't work), not ever saving passwords for certain sites etc.

I feel justified in saying Chrome was a piece of shit.

I don't think I've mentioned this before but I volunteer at a cat rescue and I just spent six hours in a scene straight out of an animal hoarders show (it was seriously exactly like the worst episodes of those shows) rescuing 60 cats out of a woman's trailer before animal control comes on sunday.

Going back tomorrow for more fun.
