The Spider Man musical opened tonight:

Quote Quoting The New York Times
So is this ascent from jaw-dropping badness to mere mediocrity a step upward? Well, until last weekend, when I caught a performance of this show’s latest incarnation, I would have recommended “Spider-Man” only to carrion-feasting theater vultures. Now, if I knew a less-than-precocious child of 10 or so, and had several hundred dollars to throw away, I would consider taking him or her to the new and improved “Spider-Man.”

It's beyond "sensitivity", he's just being a dick.

There is absolutely no way that what I said was racist. If we had been on the street or anywhere other than work, I would have told him off.
Work etiquette is weird. I tend to be rather sarcastic in a deadpan sorta way, so I have to watch myself at work because sometimes people don't really get it. Work is also weird because you wind up spending more time with people you aren't sure if you would even remotely be friends with than your own friends.

Man, I lost my paycheck somewhere today. I just hope the shop owner I work for isn't too put out dealing with that tomorrow. I'm in a foul mood now.

I wouldn't win anything. Not even "Most Annoying Poster." Or "Poster Most Likely to Be Mocked, Either to His Face or Behind His Back." Either way, I can take it. Honestly :P

Found out two days ago I'm gonna be a dad.

And my boss randomly gave me a nice bonus today, for nothing.

Wow I'm having a good day.

I need some advice from MatchCut.

There's a relatively new hire in Plumbing, which is located right next to my department (Appliances).

He's a black guy, and he's been pulling the race card quite a bit.

    This was our exchange tonight:

HIM: Can you help me with an SOS* item here? (*SOS = "Special Order Sales")

ME: Yeah sure. Wait, I didn't think you guys did SOS stuff?

    HIM: Whoa whoa whoa..."you guys"?

    ME: Uh...yeah...plumbing...

    HIM: Yeah, right.

How should I handle this (both the situation, and having to work with this guy)?
With an exchange like this, just keep acting confused, and ask him what he means, to expose his foolishness. I would have continued...

Me: What do you mean, "yeah, right"? What did you think I meant?

him: You think black guys can't do SOS stuff?

    Me: You're black?

Yep, a six-year-old. We video taped telling her, because we thought she would freak out. Instead she accused us of lying and said its not nice to tease her. Took us several minutes to convince her we were telling the truth.

Finally went and got my Oregon Driver's License after living here for four years. That was amazingly painless. I had put it off for so long because of all my past experiences at the CA DMV. Those people suck. The OR DMV people do not suck. They actually were joking around, and having a good time. Plus I was in and out in under an hour. I can't wait to go back in 6 or so years.

Yep. My first experience at the DMV in WA was amazing. It was like heaven compared to CA. The employees are nice, they joke around, and I've never had to wait in line here.

The CA DMV is one reason why I will never move back to that state. And I'm not even joking.

House/dog-sitting for a friend this weekend especially enjoyed these choice nuggets of wisdom about dealing with the dogs:

"He also likes to like to lick her vagina. For real. It's gross but I just look the other way because she seems to enjoy it."

"If you see them barking gently tell them to stop and to show you're the alpha male mount the barker and simulate sexual intercourse. Your penis may or may not be erect at this point but try not to penetrate the offender."

    That's what friends are for.

How would Derek know what to do when the dog licks her vagina? Thank heavens Derek has good friends.
