Could not agree more Davis. The fact that it was one of the first songs I listened to when I was getting into music (thank you, Big Shiny Tunes, for when you were still good), adds a heavy nostalgia factor that makes it even greater for me.

Oddly enough, I've never checked out any other songs by them. If you have, how do they rate?
The whole album its off of - Glee - is brilliant. In my top 100. It's smart, sarcastic, sonically interesting, funky, and just all around a great '90s pop-album. Totally of its time - it is a relic - but I think it still plays well today.

I've heard their second album, and it's about 1/2 good. Never heard their 3rd. It's pretty hard to find.

Drinking in LA is just a brilliant song. Bran Van was poking fun at the electronic and deejay cultures, while still utilizing their techniques, while also making some hilarious social commentary on the climate of So. Cal. filmsters. I was living there when this song came out, and its genius instantly hit me; I couldn't even count how many people told me they were filmmakers, and yet they didn't have a think to show!

Feelin' kind a groovey, workin' on a movie...
    YEAH RIGHT!

But there is also a sadness to the song, or at least some genuine emotions of not doing what you really want to be doing. It strikes a perfect balance of being genuine, cynical, and sarcastic.

Nice. Where are they playing? I'll have to go. Victor Wooten is a monster on that Drum-axe-simitar thing.

The last time I saw them was at the Concert at the Zoo, a few summers ago.
Jazz Alley. I think they play four nights there. I didn't know you were in the area. Maybe I'll see you there. Do you ever go to SIFF?

    Fugazi - Argument

Epic Problem is an amazing hardcore jam.

If anyone has any suggestions I'm trying to find more catchy/hard rocking albums like this.

Sweet, checking some of these out. I'm familiar with Dinosaur Jr. but I don't think I've listened to any of the rest of these guys.

It would be scientifically impossible to cram more talent onto a single stage:

Wow, that 7 Seconds album takes me back to highschool when I almost got crushed to death at one of their shows. I think I left that show soaked in Kevin Seconds' sweat. And the bastard didn't even give me a cigarette when he was through. Nevertheless, it was a blast.

Sounds like we've had a similar experience. Such a great album. I bought it on tape in '91, I think. In Knoxville, TN, while I was there for an Odyssey of the Mind (mega-nerd) competition. I can't quite remember if I saw them before, or after this though.

Nice! My favorite GBV tune, though I've only heard Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes.

That seems to be the consensus. I love them both though, esp. AL, so I should check out some of their others.

After those 2 albums, I kind of prefer Tobin Sprouts solo stuff. Although, the last GBV's album is really good as well.

Sprout's Let's Welcome the Circus People is amazing.
