Welp, here I am again, working on a Sunday. Third week in a row. This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't already in here earlier today, getting everything done. But then someone called up and explained that the documents they sent me were wrong, so I had to come back in. And then I found some mistakes on one of them, and I was told to correct it. It was either that or point out that a higher-up had fucked up.

    :frustrated:

I've been using "you don't pay me enough for that" as an excuse to get out of overtime and extra shifts at work lately.

Because, well, they don't pay me enough.

When the two other workers write themselves checks for $2500 every month, then pay me minimum wage to do all their work for them, I'm done sticking my neck out to help them.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

My work instituted a three week notice policy if you need to request a vacation or even just ask for a day off for a doctor's appointment or something so I instituted the same policy and when they ask me to come in on my day off or when someone calls in sick I tell them to give me three weeks notice also.

Both are fairly common practices. Although the latter one won't really help you out with whatever company that is.

Two weeks is common practice, three weeks is just being obnoxious. Especially when they wait till 30 minutes before going home on friday to mention that they need people to come in on saturday.

Rather than clogging up the YouTube thread with my own videos, do you think I should move them to a separate thread?

    Midnight in Paris (Allen, 2011) - 5

You're not clogging up anything but they'd certainly get proper attention in a separate thread.

Zappos.com = best customer service of all time. Other companies, take note. This is how you run a business. Bought some new shoes, something broke on them. They're sending me a new pair - will be here tomorrow, ordered today - gave me $20 off my next order, and promised me next day delivery for all future orders.

Thanks to Facebook, I now know that my one of my oddest female roommates, who menstrated for two weeks at a time, ate tuna mixed with peas two meals a day, smelled kind of funky and shaved her face, is now married with two children.

I normally don't mind being single, but damn. Sometimes I wonder.

DON'T GET ME WRONG. She was a really sweet girl and I think it's great someone loves her and that she's happy.

Let's hope they also love fourteen days of cramps and put-downs.

Not being single is the easiest thing in the world to accomplish. Finding the right relationship is about the hardest. But the one thing you just don't do is give up entirely.

Chances are you don't wanna marry the guy she married anyway.

Yeah. I've heard nothing but great things about them. Both in how they give service and how they treat employees.

I'm at work today, actually, trying to write a grant. I've never written a grant before. It's sort of stressful. There's a whole lot of "PLEASE GIVE US MONEY" involved.
Hey. I just got Employee of the Month for this. And since we only do Employee of the Month once or twice a year, I'm counting it slightly higher.

I got a certificate, and a little engraved plaque, and a gift certificate.

But I'm still going to ask for a raise next month.

This goofy, handsome boy I knew in high school was into theater and obsessed with sex. Not unusual for high school. This was... oh... fourteen years ago. He recently added me on facebook, and his last update says he is organizing "the premiere sexual health educational theatre group on campus."

I suspect someone is playing an elaborate joke on me.
