Ah, I can do that? Because there's a short cutscene with dialogue trees after her first defeat, which then segues into the 2nd confrontation. That's where I'm at. Part of me gets the impression I'm still too much into the FPS mindset and not grasping that this has undeniable RPG elements. And I'm not merely talking about leveling up, but even during battle I'm just shooting, hardly taking the time to assign powers and upgrades to my teammates.

Still, they perish so quickly.

One other thing, just getting to Benezia took a long time with a huge Mako section inbetween. If I leave this battle now, will I need to traverse that entire area again?! All those bloody corridors?

What I had to do was go back to an old save earlier on the same planet, it was right after I downloaded the stuff from that guy's computer and he gave me the card so I can access the garage. So for me whenever I go back I'll have to drive all the way out to Pier 51 and find Benezia again. Just hope you have a save somewhere back at the base on Noveria, because I think that's the only way you can get back on the Normandy.

Actually now that I think about it if you have a save point somewhere on Pier 51 BEFORE you met Benezia you could back track to your car outside then just drive back to the base and get back to the Normandy, though I'm not certain it would work. I did all of this because I'm fairly certain it would be damn near impossible to beat Benezia at my current level, just could not do it.

Last night, in Dragon Age, I was travelling between towns and I met with a group of people, spoke with them, and a bunch of bandits ambushed us. They promptly CRUSHED me and my group. I reloaded, attempted to travel again, and the exact same thing occurred. Third time, once again met up with the bandits, but decided "to hell with this" and tried to attack without speaking to them AND THE GAME WOULDN'T LET ME. The game forces you into this fucking ambush, and I tried it over and over and over for three hours last night before nearly putting my fist through my TV screen.

Anybody have any suggestions? I'm already sick of this bull.

i finished chrono trigger. as far as SNES RPGs go it's not quite as epic as FFVI or as fun as Earthbound but it's a close third and a great game.

speakign of earthbound i've started playing mother 3. at first i was unsure of it, but it's growing on me. it has the same wittiness and sense of fun that made earthbound such a blast.

Yeah, this was always an option, but it still feels like such games should give one the option to simply leave a battle, even if only through the pressing of a button. I was uncommonly mad, but have decided to calm down, level up and return at a later date.

Just finished Ocarina of Time for what must be the twelfth time, and it's ressurected my desire to do two things, and they are:

- play Wind Waker, finally

- try to write some sort of spec script for a film, based on the game. Probably just as an exercise, but there's certainly a lot to work up from.

Played some of the demo to Heavy Rain before turning it off in anger. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It's like a parody, to have your character use his inhaler you have to press like a 5 point long button combination. This is more complicated than that action is in real life.

The game "flow" is up for free on the PSN. I think the deal ends sometime tonight. I haven't played it yet but free is free.

They've completely redone the graphical system to allow 1000% more particle collisions, and all the classic weapons (assault rifle, pistol, battle rifle) have been revamped to look and perform better.

They also say for the first time since the original "Halo: Combat Evolved", they're striving to make the world itself and the way it unfolds just as much a part of the experience as the shooting. So, more exploration elements.

Plus - return of the Covenant Elite!

I finally beat that ambush party that Dragon Age Origins was forcing me to confront. I juggled my party around for a bit, trying to find a good balance between my characters. Settled with myself, (a mage with offensive attacks), a healing mage, and two tank warriors.

The ambush party included a mage on a hill who would blast the party with an exploding fireball, or would cast a freezing spell on me first thing. I changed the tactics around to, basically, "GET THAT FUCKING MAGE!!!" One or two attempts later, we wiped out the ambush party,

Then I forgot to save.

And we were attacked by a party of assassins, and they killed us.

So, I had to go all the way back to the ambush again. Luckily, it only took two attempts to get by them again. W00t.

I don't see why anyone would get excited about a new Halo game when we still haven't seen a true follow-up to the much more engaging Marathon universe.
