That song, "Summertime Clothes" and "Brothersport" are especially amazing, but the whole album is just plain awesome.

I'm currently pretty obsessed with Stevie Ray Vaughan. Just listening to whatever songs of his I find. Christ, what an amazing musician. And he died so young.:sad:

Was introduced to the music of Serge Gainsbourg today and just got this album. Already listened to it four times today. What a brilliant album. Can't wait to delve into his other music.

Haven't posted in this thread for a long time, but seeing both Pixies and Grizzly Bear live about a month ago has left "Gouge Away" and "Ready, Able" stuck in my head and in heavy rotation ever since.

Also, kicking around in playlists of mine for the last little while:

Just very safe and enjoyable stuff, and Casablancas' is mainly in anticipation for the new album as its something from him, Strokes or no Strokes accompanying.

Get Dream of the Sea; by far and away their masterpiece. Will Oldham did a nice cover of the title track.

Great CD, and a new favorite of mine.

Hard Row-The Black Keys. Love the heavy guitar work and the blunt vocals here.

"Summertime" is fantastic. There's one other song I like a lot and the rest are okay. I gave it a 3/5 which puts me pretty much right between the absurd hype and backlash. Worth checking out and I'll probably end up seeing them in December for $15.

Murmur is a new favorite of yours? Man, get through that discography. Just based on a few conversations I've had recently it seems like there's been a fair amount of revisionist REM bashing going on amongst the hipster community at large. Lot of folks saying their songs sound too samey and whatnot and I don't get this at all. They're an easy top five favorite band of mine and I know a lot of people who REM has meant so much to. But I mean even past all that just the sheer number of bands throughout the '80s and '90s who had their way paved for them by Stipe and co or maybe even wouldn't exist at all without REM is staggering
