Yeah, the American team looked very impressive in the first half, in the second half you've been as poor as we did in the first. Our commentators mentioned that this is your 24th international match this year. WTF?!

We're trying desperately to be competitive this summer in South Africa. Soccer is seemingly catching on in our country, but in order for it to make the leap to major viewers, our own team needs to be worth a damn. Making it out of our group would help, but it sure isn't likely.Quoting Lasse (view post)
As least the Denmark - USA match had some goals.
The match I'm watching (The Netherlands - Paraguay) is boring as hell and just terrible. If we play like this in South Africa I don't think we'll make it through the group phase either. 13 corner kicks and not one was dangerous... unacceptable! Match just finished, ended up 0-0.
Wow. Slovenia made the World Cup and Russia has the summer off.
Whoa! I was hoping that Hiddink and his team would make it. Was looking forward to see them play in South Africa.Quoting shaun (view post)
0-0 games are why the US doesn't like soccer.
Holy shit, Thierry Henry handled the ball right before Gallas' goal. I always liked Henry, but this is not fair. Ireland was the best team in both matches.
I really dislike the French team, and their idiotic coach.

I love the French team (they have many of the most exciting talents in world football for me), and Henry is a personal hero, and I'm not Irish at all, but I am genuinely gutted for you lads. I wanted France to progress but certainly not like this. The faster the FFF get rid of Domenech (who certainly has to be the most clueless manager in world football right now) the better that nation will become.
Ignorant American question: What's the general perception on Henry amongst people who actually care about soccer? Bit of a phony?
I find this aspect of the outrage silly and annoying. I said I feel for the Irish, but people need to stop being such drama queens. Over 200 goals for one of the most successful and entertaining sides in Europe , a Ligue 1 Title, 2 Premiership Titles, 3 FA Cups, La Liga, Copa Del Rey, a Champions League, a European Cup, a World Cup, and his career has been tarnished by one poxy handball?Quoting Adam (view post)
Tja ... bigger than Henry:

I've never seen a team play as soft, and quit as early, as Wigan today. I couldn't have been happier, considering the result. 9-1 Spurs, with five goals from Defoe. Their one goal was set up by a blatant hand-ball that wasn't called.
I know this is the European football discussion thread, but did anybody catch the MLS final last night?
For an ostensibly high stakes match, I don't think I've ever seen a major sporting event that felt so meaningless. And what sort of people are diehard Real Salt Lake fans?
I'd like to know why they call themselves REAL Salt Lake. And any meaningful game that comes down to PKs is disappointing as far as I'm concerned.
Exactly.Quoting Adam (view post)
